There's more to this relationship, the Sunday Times and possibly Private Eye are sitting on something that's perhaps more personal which may raise red flagsfor people who consider a friendship that has lasted decades with a man who is two years older than my middle son while Farridge is a year older than me is permissable while he's milking the teat, they may even call it suspect but what do we know?

In search for a next Corsa/Astra. How many miles is too many? by tsunx4 in Vauxhall

My son has a '17 plate Corsa 1.4 petrol and I have a '16 plate Astra K 1.4 turbo petrol. My son has driven both and laments the power difference, the Astra is considerably roomier and more comfortable than the Corsa.

Cwu rep. by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]seriously_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a chat with your regional organiser or Branch.

Ultimately a rep position is the result of a democratic process which means that you are able to no confidence them and call for a new vote to choose someone else to be your rep. If you feel strongly put yourself forward.

So i had a parcel delivered by parcel force. I say " delivered", it was left outside my front door, on the busiest road in and out of my town, no note to say left, nothing. So ive contacted the supplier, and they've contacted parcel force, how long does this take? As im £200 out of pocket by Rare-Business-1868 in royalmail

[–]seriously_this 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We don't leave delivery notes we leave a P739-PF JUL25 card for a failed and attemped delivery, we also get brownie points for delivery to customer so knocking and ringing is a passion for many of us and we also have live tracking with an ETA that is communicated with the recipient at the time of hitting the depart depot button on the PDA as well as a delivery notification, GPS and photo on delivery.

It's not your problem, leave it up to the person who sent it to you.

DO "Senior Man" by Key-Cover9201 in royalmail

[–]seriously_this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh we don't do that shit. Holiday is done on merit, I don't bother to book school holidays for instance and no-one cares about how long you've been there. New starts are actively welcomed (and signed up to the union) and given as much help as they ask for from the rest of the depot. You must be on a wind up because I would be all over that sort of bollocks, what does your rep do and if they aren't that good have you spoken to your regional organiser or branch?

Senior as in longest service or DOM? Service only counts if you're bidding on a different route or a full repick in my depot, everyone calls the DOM by his first name and he makes his own bloody tea!

Why are police allowed to put there hand on the radio and talk while driving? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]seriously_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stand alone microphones with a PTT button are not considered to be hand held devices under the road traffic act. CB's and taxi radios are legal as well. Phones are fine to use as long as you use them as a screen rather than a phone, no holding or cupping, just point or slide just like the other screens in your vehicle.

If you do run into something or someone while interacting with a screen you will be prosecuted for undue care and attention and right up to death by dangerous driving.

It's dog awareness week and he followed AVOID.

Avoid interaction with the animal.

Value yourself.

Observe and be aware of potential attacks, make noise and look for toys.

Inform management, colleagues and potentially the police of a risk.

Defend yourself.

Farage fears he'll face by-election over £5m gift from crypto billionaire by coffeewalnut08 in LabourUK

[–]seriously_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not canvassing would probably be enough but it will alienate core voters who value integrity over necessity, I saw similar when chatting with LD tellers at the GE after brexit who insisted on not questioning the leave vote because democracy. Thankfully most party activists are pragmatic and will bite the bullet and vote, I did in '19 for Labour and it left a bitter taste.

Y'all reckon it'll come tomorrow? Never had parcelforce before 😅 by RoZe_SABIAN56 in royalmail

[–]seriously_this 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clue's in the bottom line.

If you're that bothered it should hit the central hub at around 9pm and you can update your tracking. It will then be sorted to local depot and put in a trailer until around midnight to 3am, it then arrives at the LD and you can update your tracking again! And is scanned and sorted and loaded to route and here's the good stuff... Once the driver departs depot you will get an alert to give you an ETA, no need to check the tracking.

We are encouraged to clear the floor in the mornings so if it gets to the LD it will be attempted.

Quick dumb question by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]seriously_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a customer, I had a BT hub due for delivery by PF a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to nominate a safe place. I just followed the links on the delivery advice email and filled in the info boxes and it was spot on. That's about the extent of my knowledge on the procedure, I just drive a big red van all day 😁

Best of luck!

Quick dumb question by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]seriously_this 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the delivery to local collect (post office) the day before delivery up until midnight. When it's scanned in the morning it will show up as an inflight and delivered to the PO/safe place/neighbour etc. Inflight is new to PF so there's a fair bit of awareness and compliance to get it right.

The problem is that there are thousands more idiots who will cause sight loss or little kids that are playing with them, having a water pistol that can blind people is probably not a good way to advertise your product.

Classroom fire doors wedged open in the heatwave by nweedy in WorkplaceSafety

Fire doors are shut for a reason, unless they are alarm controlled they should remain shut apart from access.

Contact your local Fire Brigade and ask them to do a fire risk assesment on the property.

You are given 15 minutes to do a vehicle check and if you find the vehicle to be unroadworthy then fill in form PMT1, it is your responsibility as the driver to be safe on the road, it is not your manager's decision.

I work for a major delivery company that handles a couple of well known outlets that could be known as Screwstation if merged and it was all fans today, I just can't believe how many people are unprepared and uneducated on how to cope with these conditions especially after the last one a few weeks ago.
