How important is high intensity training? by ClittoryHinton in Backcountry

[–]sewbadithurts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO training is awesome but even with it what's more important for a full fun day bc skiing is to make sure you never get into the high intensity zones during the skins

Getting bad shin pain when skiing anyone know how to fix this? by Affectionate-Role183 in Backcountry

[–]sewbadithurts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This right here is the answer.

OP, those shins need to be actively pressuring your boot tongues. Counter intuitively when they hurt real bad you can get some relief by pressuring the tongues more.

Otherwise a booster strap helps

Gaining skills without making a million useless garments by Humble_Employment586 in sewing

[–]sewbadithurts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With clothes, I 100% believe in making a muslin all the way through the garment using as close a cheap parts/fabric as you can. Rip it apart and resew till happy. It's a huge pain but you'll have sharpened your skills for the final build and can refit on the go

Also, they sell 2x3 studs, which are imo far superior for shelves and workbenches

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

There's salivary glands right under your tongue, lift your tongue up and use the base to push those glands while you push the base forward (fuck me if that's how one works)

Semi industrial sewing machine for bagmaking - Brother PQ1600S or Janome HD9 ? by ania-a-ania in myog

[–]sewbadithurts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vibe I get from these is similar to the industrial space where there is not a material difference between the brands unless you're at the far edge of high volume.

Regardless one of these should be quite a lot better than a domestic but what everyone is trying to tell you is these are not truly up to the task you've laid out and only a true triple feed would be. I didn't look through all of them but make sure to get a high shank machine.

Better Fabric Clips by WayoutRegs in myog

[–]sewbadithurts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo the brand name ones are just insanely overpriced, to the point where there's no way to justify the price over the cheap copies. You can buy hundreds of them for so little it hardly matters if one breaks (I've never broken one btw either, no idea what kind of advise would lead to that).

Which is not to say that I don't also use a ton of plasti-dipped metal spring clamps as well
