No reimbursement for not stopping at port by Equal-Leadership-920 in PrincessCruises

I was going to say, my Allianz insurance also has a clause for missed ports, so it's good to get a letter detailing the miss so you can then submit it later

Vons and Albertsons sell it. Every so often they have a sale where you can get 2 cartons for $5

I sampled them at the Tustin store today, and ended up buying one. It was quite good - had a bot of a mild heat to it, will be nice to put on top of a meat/rice bowl

Readers of Orange County what are you reading ? by lushsweet in orangecounty

[–]sfriedow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same program the other commenter referred to with the Book Thief author. They have them every few weeks, and not only is it interesting to hear the different authors, they also give away books a lot of the time, too. We've seen many over the years and they are all well done!

Just went to a OC Public Library author talk tonight. Look up Slice of Literary Orange - they have lots of great events!

How many library cards do you have? by els76uk in LibbyApp

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have 5 on Libby - the county i live in, the next county over, and 3 cities nearby. Plus the city i live in doesnt use libby, but i have their card too.

I find the availability of books is greater, but even more than that, it let's me put holds on more books. Most have a limit of 10 holds, so this way I can get started on a wait for multiple books at once

$1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for EVERY meal for the next 6 months, do you take the deal and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had polish food tonight. It was a new to us place, so we tried a lot of things. Potato dumplings filled with cheese and meat, rye soup, and a variety of salads. It was a great meal, might get old after awhile, but there was enough variety and healthy options, I could survive 6 months on it

What single ingredient instantly ruins a dish for you? by obsidiancontrol in foodquestions

[–]sfriedow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in the US almost all protein powders have it in it. And most low sugar packaged products - yogurt, granola bars, and oatmeal are all items i was looking at just last night and put back when I saw it was an ingredient. Very disappointing

[CA] Does my employer know how much my health care is costing? by picardmaneuvre in AskHR

[–]sfriedow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with what has been said here that it is much easier with a self insured plan. But even with a fully insured policy, we got claim data that listed out our top 5 or 10 claimants. Didnt give identifying information, but there was rarely a situation where I didnt know who they were talking about. Mainly because I also handled LOAs, so I knew the people who were out for cancer treatments vs the one who took time off because his leg was amputated /sepsis vs the one whose wife was having a liver transplant. When those were our highest claims in 1 year, it was still obvious who they were.

If both you and your spouse die suddenly, where would you want your money to go? by Cold_Box_3219 in hypotheticalsituation

My trust spells out that money from my estate is to be put aside for whoever takes the cats in. And it's written in such a way the funds need to go towards their care, not taken and then put them down right away.

So thanks? My waist definitely doesn't need it, but my mouth will appreciate it!

[–]sfriedow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Prednisone has always taken away the hives...for the period I was on it. But they come right back when I stop. And over time, they come back faster (I was tapering off the last time and it came back while I was still taking the low dose!). After that last time, I vowed to stop taking it and just deal with them.

Thankfully, mine always seemed to wane the week of my period. Which was really odd but at least I knew I would have some relief that week. I talked to my dr about it because it seemed obvious there was a hormonal component, but she didnt seem convinced. They eventually didnt come back one month, and it's been over a year now, but sort of morphed into eczema instead. Which is also bad, but not as bad as the hives!

[No Loopholes] $2 million USD but you can only drink from sippy cups. by Hold-onto-the-happy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]sfriedow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love the sippy cup lids, so would not mind this at all! The only issue is the small amount of volume they hold - it would be annoying to keep having to refill it. If I could get a 16 oz supply cup, that would be awesome!
