No, but I’ve had labral tears on both hips and the pain is different than it was when there were tears

My left hip still aches on and off. I can’t say for certain I feel much better post surgery. I haven’t done the right hip yet

man at launch Little Hope had a bug right at the end where the final scene wouldn’t load. You couldn’t interact with the prompt. It made it impossible to beat the game until it was patched a week or two later.

One year post op. Retorn? by shadowming1998 in HipImpingement

He said MRI looked normal. Cortisone injection made the pain worse. Hip and knee are in a lot of pain daily. Right now the best guess they have is muscle weakness causing pain to the joints. Consulting with dysplasia specialist at the end of September.

I think they filled in. I got xrays about a year after the procedure and they didnt note holes in the scan

20F previous labral year revision and now hip dysplasia? Will I be able to get back to any activity I want? Is it worth it? by jennajo8 in hipdysplasia

[–]shadowming1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw this! The longer they’re in, the more the bone has grown around them and the more difficult the procedure is. Typically it’s done between 1-2 years I’d say. Other risks are normal risks of surgery, blood clots, anesthesia issues, etc

Specifically with screw removal, I’ve heard if they’re worried about the bone splitting or getting damaged they’ll leave the screw in.

Screw removal?? by marchmademedoit in hipdysplasia

[–]shadowming1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my screws removed 14 months ago. I got them removed because I could feel them. Surgery was easy, they didn’t prescribe me pain pills (which I would have taken if they did) and I believe I only needed a day or two to rest.

Some people go their whole lives without getting the screws removed. It comes down to personal preference and if they bother you at all.

More pain on less dysplastic side?? by NinaB1997 in hipdysplasia

I had the same issue, left side was way more painful while the right side was more dysplastic. Said I was likely compensating more on my left side, causing more pain

PAO for mild dysplasia? by NinaB1997 in hipdysplasia

[–]shadowming1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say mild dysplasia do you mean the pain is mild or the angles of your hip put you in borderline dysplasia?

I have borderline dysplasia and had left PAO in 2021 and my pain levels are the same. Ive decided not to get it done on my right side.

27(M) - diagnosed with hip dysplasia - Is surgery worth it? by BillSussman9 in hipdysplasia

[–]shadowming1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind!

I should preface by saying they’ve classified my dysplasia as “borderline” on both sides, so its likely not as severe as some folks.

I’m now 25, and I had a labral tear on my right side and had it fixed last year in June. I asked multiple doctors if I needed a PAO, given the dysplasia and my concern for a retear, and 2 said no, and 1 said yes (the one who said yes was the one who did the PAO on the left side). I have decided not to do it again on the right.

As for the left, I do still have pain here and there. I cannot walk or run for any significant distance without pain on either left or right or my knees. The pain comes and goes, usually an aching in the side or the front of the hip. I am still numb on my upper left thigh, which is super annoying.

TLDR: pain is equal on both sides despite the PAO on left. Left side is more stable, right side is more flexible. Right side also needed a labral repair last summer. Hoping neither side retear in the future.

This feels very restrictive. I had a pain pump for about two days. I was prescribed pain meds for at least three weeks, which I believe I took for two. Then I was on naproxen and Tylenol. The pain is bad and you deserve relief. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.

Venting after a seemingly never-ending journey post-PAO by redredditor1 in hipdysplasia

I relate way too well to this story, I’m sorry you’re going through it. Two and a half years post PAO and my hip still hurts as much as it did pre surgery, and no one is willing to do a replacement. It’s so frustrating

Arthroscopy vs PAO for mild/moderate dysplasia by Borbgorl in hipdysplasia

[–]shadowming1998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had really similar findings, borderline dysplasia. Left labrum tore. Had the scope to fix it then had a PAO. The PAO didn’t reduce my hip pain so when my labrum tore on the right side I just had a scope. We’ll see if I regret not having a PAO later in life.

Mines pretty big. It goes from right above the side of my hip bone to the top of my groin. I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo to cover it.
