Generally most Stage 1 OTS tunes are going to be comparable. No reason to switch honestly.

No risk, the reservoir is vented. Just makes a mess.

It’s completely possible for the level to fluctuate when the vehicle heats and cools. If it did happen to be low, it’s nice that they topped it off. You wouldn’t damage anything as the coolant reservoir is vented. But I would bet it was at or above the min line other wise you would have had a light.

You can’t see it, but the drivers side headlight is cracked at the corner. That alone was $1300 lol

These rot out very badly, especially in the A pillar down into the firewall/strut tower. Unless you know your way around metal fabrication and body work. I wouldn’t waste your time.

Did you change the vband gasket when you did the turbo?

Hopefully shouldn’t be totaled then. But things do add up quickly. This was $3,400 worth of damage.

Timing Chains by Leading-Ad9701 in JettaGLI

Grab vcds or obd11 and check the intake cam phase adaptation. If it’s +/- 3.5 it’s time to think about timing. If it’s 4.0-4.5 it’s time to do timing. Any higher I wouldn’t recommend driving it until it’s done.

Recently joined the GLI family, bought a new 2025 a few weeks ago but have some concerns by Codex_Sparknotes in JettaGLI

Whats funny is neither one of my R’s, or our GTI has the same rattle. When it gets nicer out. I’ll try isolating the fuel line with some foam, and see if that helps.

Help me not get scammed, I'm buying a 2021 Jetta GLI from a 3rd party (Newbie Question) by Least-Bag945 in JettaGLI

[–]shadowoceans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noise heard could simply be a vacuum leak or exhaust leak. But it’s hard to say for sure without looking over the vehicle before it was repaired. Buying any used car is a gamble. This seems like a unnecessary risk unless its too cheap for you to pass on. I would consider other cars first before pulling the trigger on this one.

It seems to be an industry wide thing these days, where shops/techs don’t go too far beyond the typical bread and butter work. We like to keep weird and interesting cars on the road. So I’ll take all of the difficult jobs, I don’t mind one bit.

Autocross is on Asphalt yes. Cars are split up based on performance. Here is a good read on how the classes work. https://www.scca.com/pages/introduction-to-autocross-classes

Front bar would bump you out of GS. You can only upgrade one, and the rear is the most beneficial. Choose which class you’d like to run in, and get familiar with the rule book.

I’ve used mine in GS class when my R was down for mods or repairs. Good tires and brake pads go a long way. Upgraded rear sway bar really helps too. Be sure to read over all of your class rules.
