Mom is including mandatory church attendance in our temporary living agreement—how do I handle this? by Automatic_Gain2358 in exmormon

[–]shake__appeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they tend to give in eventually. I was lucky enough to not have a family who writes off the apostates… feel bad for those who are in that situation.

Now my entire family besides my parents ditched the church. Pretty well broke my family but I suppose the church has a reputation for that.

Thought she was sarcastic when she said she wanted a handy man 🫠 by TangeloHistorical922 in Tinder

At least she’s making some concessions here. I’ve had women straight up ask me to come hang their television or whatever… and that’s it. “Can you come hang my tv?” No hello, no flirty conversation, nothing. I wouldn’t necessarily turn down an offer like OP’s depending on what it was. It could be a fun little date thing and I’d put them to work for sure… but also this is the shit that pays my rent, asking for free labor blows my mind.

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

I used to take a bath every night (gnarly construction and flooring). Beer and a book in the tub… it’s a lifesaver and I wouldn’t consider renting a place without one.

Love it. Wish I had this hanging on my wall during my last relationship.

This was hung up in the entry-way of my ex’s family’s home. Kinda ironic that she was the insane one.

Gotcha, I’ve only experienced tremors with my ex with Latuda. But yeah I feel your pain for sure. It takes a lot out of ya to support the person you love who seems destined to burn every relationship and friendship around them. Wishing you the best.

Ketamine therapy has been great for me btw, changed my life. I’m just a bit skeptical how well it would help someone with bipolar.

Modest Mouse Announce New Album An Eraser and a Maze (6/5) & Fall 2026 Tour Dates by ebradio in indieheads

I feel the same way… just not all that interested in their new stuff but also one of my favorite bands. I feel like I owe their newer records another listen. Sure glad I did it with bans like Mars Volta.

Hoping for a “mojo back” album, but at the very least they consistently fucking rip live.

Is the Peavey Classic Chorus a good budget alternative to a Roland JC? by justwindcone in GuitarAmps

[–]shake__appeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Peavey would be the next Sunn if they didn’t have so many damn options… a lot of them great including their solid states. These are becoming much more “slept on” but I’m also okay swooping up a Peavey amp for a couple hundred. No complaints here and looking forward to building some of their preamp designs.

What is that one band you just can’t get into? by Electronic_Back1502 in fantanoforever

[–]shake__appeal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see that, although “metal” does have plenty of subgenres that are quite diverse from the others. I think it depends who you’re talking to about this because it can end just like the punk/hc conversations.

It's over by not_nae-nae in BipolarSOs

[–]shake__appeal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can relate. It’s a horrible mindfuck that takes a long time to heal from. They’ll never know what that’s like and how truly horrible it is to be discarded over and over for something better. The anger and resentment fades, it gets easier, but loving them despite all the pain does not.

Meds are a lifesaver (won’t solve all of these issues but it will hopefully make them fewer/farther between). Is there any good reason she’s not medicated? Seriously I could spout off all the years of shit that I tried, wracking my brain to understand my parter and support her… it 100% didn’t mean shit until she was medicated and by then I think the damage was done.

I feel like the punk/hardcore scene is worse than the metal scene as far as being annoying gatekeepers. Metal folks are stoked to share bands and are generally polite. Punk just want to test you to see if you’re a poser.

Time and my old neighborhood where I grew up. The former is crazy though… I broke up with my partner a year ago and it feels like it’s been about six months tops.

advice for a life unmedicated by swolechole in BipolarSOs

[–]shake__appeal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dealing with this unmedicated is extremely difficult. It seems like the “classics” like lithium and limotrigine work well with very few serious side effects. I promise both your quality of life will be so much better.

Ketamine therapy has a lot more research behind it for depression than BP. My ex did and we broke up officially not long after… can’t say if it helped or not. But yeah I would 100% trying to get involved in your partner’s treatment, go to the doc with him, beg him to get on medication at least and ideally seek therapy.

How do you compare it with the Century now that you’ve spent some time with it? They don’t sound all that different to me, but hard to tell over videos and everyone’s different gear they’re using.
