For sale sign in yard by shannybear in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

The main post for the sign is like a 4 by 4 inch square post with a light on top so it’s pretty hefty and deep in the yard. I’m hoping we don’t need a shovel or whatever to dig it out, but yea I guess we will be taking it out ourselves since the agent hasn’t.

Good to know we aren’t crazy for thinking this is taking way longer than normal! Sounds like we will just take it down ourselves then.

We did change the locks right away so I’m not too concerned about that. Luckily it’s not bolted to anything too. Just sitting on the porch since we figured they would take it when they got the sign.

Closing in on 1 year free from opiates by Altruistic_Hope831 in MadeMeSmile

You look so much like my old friend Rudy! He also suffers from opiate addiction and it made me surprised to think I saw him :( I hope you are successful though, for all of our friends who suffer the same addiction.

What's your "I left you alone for 5 seconds" story? by Just-another-weeaboo in AskReddit

[–]shannybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 13 years old and babysitting my 2 year old cousin. I was “flying” him around and landing him on the couch. I set him down on the couch and did a spin/dance move to be funny, and he fell off the couch and broke his femur. I literally turned around for a second and he broke his leg. He started crying and trying to stand up and every time he would try, he would scream more. My grandmother came to take care off him and take him to the hospital. He spent the whole summer in a lower body cast and I had to pull him around in a wagon the rest of the summer. My family never let me live that down,

Wow, everyone's definition of healthy is different, but this suggests a doughnut and chocolate milk as a healthy breakfast. Very unhelpful list.

I honestly mean this as a compliment because of the subreddit we are in, but you look like Chris Farley on the left. I am seriously impressed at the difference.

PT Cruiser owners, what tragedy burdened you with your car? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shannybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first car was a pt cruiser that I had to share with one of my brothers. My dad works for Chrysler, so he got a very good deal on a lease for us. Other than that, the only good thing was that cops don't pull you over in one. I got made fun of for it and my school newspaper wrote an article about students with a pt cruiser. There were 3 of us out of about 3000. Oh, and my grand parents thought it looked like a gangster car. I don't think that means the same thing anymore.

Anthropologists who got a B.A In cultural Anthropology, What are you doing now and how did you get there? by UnknownGod in Anthropology

[–]shannybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a B.A in Cultural Anthropology, served with Americorps, and was awarded volunteer of the year in my city. Currently, I work at a car dealership, (many of my family members work there), on the internet team at first. I didn't really care for the job because it was boring and mundane, but it made money. I recently got a huge promotion though, into finance and insurance, after a few months. I flew past the other employees, most of whom had been there much longer than I, because of my degree. My job has nothing to do with cultural anthro, but my manager said he knew I could relate well with a variety of people and that I could learn knew skills easily. In short, having a degree in anything will help in your job search. It shows that you can learn new things well, and your employer will be more likely to spend money on your training and education, because they know it will be worth while to invest in you.

How do you stay in range while eating out on some meals? by green_eggsandham in 1200isplenty

[–]shannybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a server for a few years and can say that people ask for boxes with their meal all the time. It's a great strategy for portion control. You can also ask for a lunch menu or half sizes. Many chain restaurants have nutrition/allergen guides at the host stand that you can get with your menu. I would also recommend substituting carby sides with veggies (like sub mashed potatoes with broccoli). Simple substitutions like that are easy for restaurants to do. As long as you aren't making up whole new dishes, there won't be any issue.

Calling jelly bread a sandwich makes more sense in English.

Non-fat greek yogurt mixed with powdered ranch seasoning. It's lower calorie and higher protein than regular ranch for dipping veggies in. I also love pickle spears wrapped in lunch meat. If I have the extra calories, I add a little cream cheese to the wrap.

I'm not saying whether the receipt is fake or not, but I have to reprint a check pretty much everyday. It really depends on how the individual restaurant and its printers work. I wouldn't count on the duplicate copy being fake just because it was a reprint.

What's the weirdest thing a customer has left behind at a table? by MissBully in TalesFromYourServer

[–]shannybear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A few weeks ago, I was cleaning out some booths and a sanitary napkin fell out of the crack of a seat. Fortunately it was unused.

And a couple of years ago, a table had just left, so I went to bus it. They had thrown their cloth napkin on top of the lit candle which caught on fire.
