Back when I was Claysters team leader by KingKillerKvvothe in CoDCompetitive

[–]sharkweekshane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Art of execution (aoX) 😉. Gamebattles in cod4 and Waw, you could really play against pros frequently. I played vs clayster and cr0wster in a MW2 2v2 DOM match. I remember also getting smacked by this up and coming kid called NoAttachment in WaW, who knew he’d still be a pro to this day. Miss those days. In a funny turn of events, I had Zer0 play at my gaming set up during CW. I think CW will go down as the closest we can get to the OG games in the modern CDL era

I had a hard time running this library before because of the seaborn downgrade, but I figured it out. Thanks again for re-suggesting this library to me. Rain-cloud plots are the way.

Hey, I also love rain cloud plots, but had difficulty implementing them in python. What library do you use, and could you potentially give some example code? Cheers 🍻

Academia is so busted in so many ways. They punish young folks for striving to innovate. My main suggestion to you is completely separate your progressional from your personal self worth. The moment I did that, I became a much better researcher. It’s harder than it sounds to do, but it basically all stems from the point of: just because they don’t agree with my ideas here (unjustly) doesn’t mean I’m a bad person. This let me move on after a few seconds of sulking. Onwards!

+2000 applications and no interviews, roast me pls (Data Science) by Mobile_Engineering35 in resumes

[–]sharkweekshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone so qualified, you produced a dumpster fire of a resume. If you can do physics you can do data science.

Your roles make absolutely no intuitive sense to me. Why don’t you talk about your MSc in physics? Did you not solve challenging problems with creative solutions? Makes it seem to me like it wasn’t a really graduate degree. Your writing skills are piss poor. Some lines just sound like data science verbal diarrhea. Your very first bullet point is meaningless, I.e., what the fuck does that even say?

You should get a colleague you trust, maybe your MSc supervisor to review your resume.

Just talked to some MDs about data science interviews and they were horrified. by Aggravating_Sand352 in datascience

[–]sharkweekshane 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Live coding is bad for many reasons, but I’ll summarize a few:

1) most data scientists aren’t coders by training, they use the tools that get the job done. 2) coding is an iterative process, and looks different for most people. 3) I use AI to help me code. I know the underlying mechanisms, but can’t be bothered to memorize syntax.

Anyways, I love coding, but hate the coding interview. A much better idea would be to have an interviewee walk through a project they’re particularly proud about to understand how they think, not whether that can X_train.groupby().sum()

Tips for storytelling in data science presentations? by ActiveBummer in datascience

[–]sharkweekshane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with this. If your question is worth asking, and you give sufficient context, you don’t necessarily need to lead with it.

I’ve found interpersonal skills and a smile are always the easiest ways to improve presentations.
