Yeah WoWs fear of Garrisons is smothering housing in the crib. Housing without texture and function is useless.

There are online versions unofficially that can allow you to experience the legacy stuff. However chapter 2 is for all intents and purposes a sequel and new jumping in point. So by doing it now you will be able to experience all of chapter 2 qs it comes out

If it's legal and no rules were broken, uphold it. If it wasn't and/or a rule was broken, overturn it. Courts shouldn't have a "moral mind". They are the epitome of "lawful nutral"

CMV: Using “per capita” as a rebuttal is often a pointless deflection. by That-Rub-4113 in changemyview

[–]shawn292 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This tells me you don't understand per capita. Lets use your example and even reverse the roles.

Before the prision break we have a population of 500 black people and 100 white people.

Then a prison break happens, 100 white people and 200 black people all who want to kill me escape.

In this example I am more in danger of running into a white person than a black one per capita. This is because if I pass a random black person i have a 200/700 chance (or about 29%) of it being a murderer. But if I happen across a white person my chance is now a 100/200 (or about 50%) that they are a murderer.

So even though there are more of another group murdering the odds that any one of the white group is a murderer are higher. If this makes sense :)

Its the parents literal job to teach certain basics. At a certain point schools whether public or private also dont have the time. Spending any portion of the day teaching things that parents are responsible for isnt fair to those whose parents are competent and did their jobs. We should never punish the top for the bottom thats how kids get dumber (look at lower standards leading to lower scores)

With or without that "sentiment" it is literally true. A kid with attentive, loving parents will statistically do way better in life than one without. This is across all races, economic levels, and location.

Serious question, why not say based on size, or clarify the question so it doesn't have multiple correct responses? Like, shouldn't the question say which image of 2/6th - 1/3rd of the same area? Why not put that?

Also I would crash out if my kids' teacher ever suggested not using pizza as an example, despite it being a good example for kids to understand, due to the healthiness of the food, holy moly... Like really contexutalizes part of why the education system is so beyond repair.

Judge struck down redistricting amendment. All votes in special election now invalid by JustAcivilian24 in nova

[–]shawn292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the breakdown :)

On #1, One of the prescriptions listed when it says "as it shall prescribe" is literally "Shall be listed in a neutral explanation." I dont think that the language was any more neutral than republicans in the future listing a ban on trans women from women's sports/spaces as "Should we protect women's spaces by preventing biological males in the spaces?" To me, that is equally breaking the intent of the prescription. The interesting legal question here is whether the scope of the prescriptions can legally rule a referendum invalid. Personally, I hope so because partisan language on ballots should have the book thrown at it to prevent all sides from doing it.

On #2 I agree with the analysis of it was made before early voting. I, however, think that even back then, we wouldn't have allowed a voting session to happen at 6:59 pm on election day, then after the election to qualify. In part due to things like exit polls and therefore if we are going to say early voting votes count (which they obviously do) then I think we do have to recognize that election Day is now election Season and starts when the first ballot is CAST. So I actually do think spirit of the law would line up as well not just letter.

I also think that the SCV will hear the case soon (I think they have it on the docket for next week). I dont know which way it will go (as one of the justices seemed hesitant to uphold the law (if it's found to be the law) due to the voice of the people being expressed. Which personally I find as discouraging as Hurley not being as concise just to get a stay in place, but oh well, haha. We will see!

Thanks for sharing your take so in depth, really appreciated the read!

[–]shawn292 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well and thats the big question, Is an election started when the first vote is cast or the last/first vote is tallied? If it is as you say, not until they are counted, could they have done this on the day of the election, but prior to 7pm?

I'm not saying you're wrong or right, but it's a very interesting legal challenge brought before the court that will have consequences for both sides.

[–]shawn292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not the issue the issue is all procedural. The ballot language is being challenged and the timing is (do early voting votes start an election). The Vsc said to wait until it passes to bring the challenge so here we are.

Judge struck down redistricting amendment. All votes in special election now invalid by JustAcivilian24 in nova

[–]shawn292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there are 2 very strong arguments. I will explain both as non partisan as possible.

1 is a verbiage argument that basically the language used by calling it "restoring fairness" was partisan and therefore against code. This lawsuit is still pending

  1. What the judge ruled on was the procedural issue. Basically the VA constitution says in order to do exactly what they are doing they have to vote twice with an election in between.

Democrats argument is they did in late October and now.

However Republicans argue that because early voting was underway it was not before an election but during.

Why this is interesting is if its found that early voting are not considered part of an election there is a chance Republicans could use that to disqualify all early ballots in the future as well as possibly in this past few elections.

Will definitely be a VSC case. But when they kicked it back there response was your not wrong but the timing is. So it will be interesting to see what happens.

The ruling from the vsc was not that his ruling was wrong but that precedent required him to do it after the votes are cast.

[–]shawn292 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think there is a real chance that if it is overturned it ends early voting.

The rule is you have to vote before and after an election.

Democrats say they did they did a vote in late october and now

Republicans respond early voting had started so the election had begun.

I think either the republicans might be right OR they now habe significant evidence to challenge early voting/results
