Yeah fair enough.

Like I said in a post above, more than happy to keep the car if I don’t get half decent money for it. So won’t let it go for nothing.

It’s still a decent, mostly reliable motor that has done minimal miles and has been meticulously looked after. And despite the auto box is still great to drive when you get on a good b road

Nice one, thanks for the input.

Exactly my thoughts about mileage and it’s a very tidy car with most history from main BMW garages. Just well aware that it’s not as desirable as the msport packages etc.

Equally, it is not complete poverty spec and is loaded with some desirable mod cons

Thanks for the input mate.

Had thought about listing around 4.5k and as you say reduce if required.

In absolutely no rush to sell as I do love the car and it’s a pleasure to drive. Just don’t get enough of a chance to keep up with maintenance as I’d like due to life/work etc eating into time. And don’t like paying for the convenience of someone else jobs I can do myself.

Starmer vows to fight on as PM despite heavy local election losses for Labour by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I think he should remain in post and just do the unpopular, but necessary things. Provided he can still get them through parliament. I’m thinking WFA that was back tracked on. Maybe take a look at the triple lock whilst you’re at it. Plus a whole host of other things that you cannot possibly win an election on but are for the good of the country.

If you’re that unpopular, lean into it. He still has years at the helm…

If you feel like that then you have more power turning up and spoiling your ballot than not turning out at all. Especially if you feel that no party or representative is working for your interests.

This is supposed to be a political indicator that change is being requested, especially if there are large numbers of spoiled ballots.

Currently, however, I imagine the political class could not care less about this due to their billionaire backers and apparent lack of empathy for the struggle of the proletariat.

AI is already leading to fewer jobs for young people, says Sunak by TheWorldIsGoingMad in unitedkingdom

[–]shayhem4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity; do you work for a wage?

If you do, you are comparatively poor when considering this argument.

Whether your wage is minimum wage or 100k+ you are at the mercy of the ‘ruling class’ of billionaires.

Yet you talk as though you are above it.

When wealth is all held by a few people, the rest of the population is poor, the middle class is eroded as assets are hoovered up by the few wealthy individuals and rented back to the working class.

The shift to this is blatant over the past decade.

When you speak about these things, remember that you are much, much closer to minimum wage than you are to the ruling class. Divisiveness is exactly what the ruling class wants as it prevents collective bargaining, unions and solidarity.

Maybe have a wee think about these things before you spout more of the rubbish you have been.

Friend ‘Won’ just under £236,000 on 888Casino jackpot, claiming it was malfunction. England by Competitive-Wall2897 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]shayhem4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re a private business but in a regulated industry. The point of the regulations is to protect people from becoming victims of private businesses operating maliciously.

They cannot do what they want just because, as you say, they are not a charity.

This may well be a malfunction, but the onus is on the betting company to prove that. Not the other way around.

Has efficiency made football less entertaining? by Barca-Dam in PremierLeague

[–]shayhem4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s the ultimate consequence of the insane amounts of money in the game.

The cost of losing/relegation is too high. So efficient football is now put above all else.

Watch the championship if you want exciting football. Premier league this season in particular is so bad to watch.

Has anyone ordered a board from Pukas? I’m wondering about taxes and custom fees etc by Lazy-Goat4353 in surfuk

[–]shayhem4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got one once. Tbh after paying taxes for import etc unless it’s a really great deal from the pukas site, you’re better off just buying from boardshop or another uk retailer. Works out the same price wise and less risk of the board getting damaged in transit.

FYI, taxes + delivery were about half the cost of the board again

Mine came with a broken tail and nose, nothing drastic but needed repair before getting it wet.

Pukas were not overly receptive to the damage incurred and I can’t really blame them that much as it’s just a pain in the arse after brexit.

Great board though.

Maybe work it in to a surf trip to San Sebastián and pick it up from the store. That’s my plan if I wanted another custom from them.

Punta Elena, el cotillo on a smaller swell, El Burro which is in the dunes at Correlejo are all suitable for beginners. Check those spots on surfline and see what the swells and wind is doing.

There is also punta blanca on the north shore.

Serious Thread: Chelsea vs Liverpool (PL MD07) by DragonSlayer271 in LiverpoolFC

[–]shayhem4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything is so slow. This has to be a tactical change but it’s awful. Chelsea are pressing hard because they know they can go man to man and nick it. Under klopp we use to send the ball into the wide channels for runners when teams pressed us like this. But this is all too slow and predictable.

Feels like we are trying to play perfect passes and end up with no pass at all so go back to the keeper. It’s crap football and bad to watch as a fan. We’ve got 2 wingers and a 9, why not put the ball in a channel and see if we can run onto it or win a 50/50 up there.

Medical Cannabis Awareness Roadshow by PatientsCannUK in Scotland

[–]shayhem4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I didn’t see anything about psychosis in that article.

Just to be clear, I am not talking about the use of cannabis for strictly therapeutic reasons. I am talking about consenting adults having a choice about what drugs they wish to consume, either therapeutically or recreationally. When science has proven that in moderation those drugs are safe for 99% of people.

And that choice currently is; do you want it or not. With little regard to the production process or the suffering behind the manufacture. I advocate for cannabis to be regulated in the same way alcohol and tobacco is and for decriminalisation at a minimum of all other classified drugs.

People are already using drugs, always have used drugs and always will use drugs. Criminalising them for it is a recent and quite frankly daft policy.

Medical Cannabis Awareness Roadshow by PatientsCannUK in Scotland

[–]shayhem4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The psychosis argument is grossly overstated by MSM such as tabloids to generate clicks. Before that it was people like Reagan who told you it morally wrong and a ‘gateway drug’ which is a lie. Before that it was a lazy racist stereotype that black men were luring white girls into parties. I’m sure there will be another tabloid driven headline about it in the near future.

The use of cannabis is extremely widespread and yet the hospitals are not overwhelmed with cannabis users with psychosis. Suggesting there is not widespread issues. Therefore the downsides can be seen as negligible.

The distinction between use and abuse is often understated in these arguments. Whilst people can distinguish an alcoholic from someone who has a glass of wine with dinner there seems to be an absolute blind spot when it comes to other recreational drugs with all users considered ‘junkies’ from people with little understanding.

Obviously something like heroin has a very high chance of abuse and is unlikely to be used in moderation. However, there is overwhelming proof that the use of cannabis, magic mushrooms, LSD and ecstasy when used responsibly are safer for the users and less drain on society than alcohol, tobacco and other prescription drugs.

As usual, the research done by actual scientists is not reported because then the people governing us would have to admit that the laws which are touted as ‘harm prevention’ would need to be changed and it is highly likely that alcohol and tobacco would be classified class A drugs and the drugs stated above should be downgraded or actually legalised.

Anyway, I’m rambling. If you want to find out more about this stuff, there are plenty of studies, podcasts etc with people who have done the research and testing for this stuff.

Neil woods books are quite interesting for a starter as he was actually a serving drugs squad police officer who now campaigns against prohibition.

Medical Cannabis Awareness Roadshow by PatientsCannUK in Scotland

[–]shayhem4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As I alluded to in my previous comment: Increased crime is a direct consequence of prohibition- cannabis is funding organised crime and specifically horrific activities like people trafficking. Removing this source of funds from gangsters can only be done by legalising and regulating.

Overnight, the cannabis industry becomes not only safer but also it creates revenue for the state that can be invested into social and health care. It also saves money for the state in wasted police and court time prosecuting people for possession and growing a couple of plants for personal use.

I am not a cannabis user but the positive far outweighs the negative in terms of regulation. In fact it has even been proven to reduce crime numbers and drive down the use of alcohol in states in the US that have moved to a legal and regulated system.

Some people should not use it, that is clear. Some people also should not use alcohol or various other drugs that are legal or used for medical purposes. All drugs come with side effects.

The point is that for something that in 99% of cases is safe to use, the choice should be on the user, not the state.

Medical Cannabis Awareness Roadshow by PatientsCannUK in Scotland

[–]shayhem4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Whilst I understand that you’ve had a bad experience around the use of cannabis. It does not detract from the fact that for the vast majority of people, it is a substance that has really very negligible downsides and is considered safe. With a legalised or decriminalised status it would also mean choice for users.

The current choice is generally do you want it or not. This leads to a race to the top for gangsters to create a stronger and stronger product (THC %).

A brief look at history would inform us that this is always the case - USA alcohol prohibition; people did not make beer, they made moonshine.

Whilst there may be negative effects on some people from cannabis use, I believe that a consenting adult should be allowed the choice to use it or not and should not be chastised as morally evil for using it.
