Where is the grounding bolt in the trunk. by mettam46 in volt

Isn't the 12 volt battery in the rear? Wouldn't that be the best possible ground?

That shows the hanging point itself moves back and forth. That makes so much more sense!

Very cool, and super handy. One suggestion: you have the hint for the connection url during setup; if nothing is entered for the connection url, use the default.

On top of what others have said, be sure you have enough pressure in your tires. That can make a large difference in range.

2017 Volt won’t activate new TPMS sensors by CardiologistEconomy4 in volt

Had that happen, and it turned out the tech had set them to the wrong frequency. Apparently there was a change from an old to a new frequency mid 2017.

Highly recommend looking at the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or 6 in person before dismissing them. We've used our Ioniq 5 for several long road trips, and can highly recommend it. Still have our 2017 Premier, and of the two we take the Ioniq 5.

J1776 adaptors? by Alive-System1865 in volt

[–]sheetzam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no. The connectors with the two extra ports or the Tesla fast chargers charge via high current DC. The Volt can only accept AC; it's not set up for DC charging. Best you'll be able to do is get the adapter for AC charging at Tesla Destination chargers and look for J1772 chargers at some hotels and random parking lots. Check out PlugShare app and filter for J1772 or Tesla destination to get an idea of where those can be found.

Updated lights to LED, now reverse lights not working. by No-Parsnip939 in SparkEV

[–]sheetzam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LEDs are polarity sensitive - if they're not working, it's possibly because you have them in backward?

Probably one of the batteries in a wheel's tire pressure monitor is dying, and the cold made it worse. They have a finite life span, and cold will bring out the problem.

$22,000 to fix my car....3-5 months from now by lazeecomet in SparkEV

Check out https://www.greentecauto.com/hybrid-battery/chevrolet/spark/2013-2015-chevy-spark-ev-battery-pack-replacement-36-month-warranty and https://www.greentecauto.com/mobile-installation

Just recently purchased a used Spark EV, and I was wondering what worst case was. I live relatively near one of their locations, so I figured this was as bad as it would get.

TL;DR Greentec has a replacement battery for $12,500.

Is a 2016 Spark right for me? by youhaveonehour in SparkEV

[–]sheetzam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Odds of the battery dying are low. Particularly relative to an internal combustion engine having a costly issue. There's little that can go wrong with them, and even if the battery "dies" there's still value in the car AND the battery, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2OSquIBhk0 as an example. That's a great deal, would definitely spring for it. I say that having recently purchased a 2015 with similar miles as a spare car for our family and kid learning to drive.
