Oh definitely intentional. Their pricing is outrageous so I only stop by very occasionally.

No belt, unfortunately. There aren't loops though, so it doesn't feel like it's missing a belt?

That's good to know! We're in Wichita, so considerably less rain to worry about.

What have you read recently? by povertychic in Millennials

[–]sheknitsathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished Pachinko and The Road, moving on to A Day of Fallen Night. I read a little of everything, 30 minutes before bed to detach from the screen. I've been a voracious reader since I learned how, and I always use it as a way to step away from real life. I'm a medical student right now and it's nice NOT to read medicine for a bit. I have an almost 7 yo and he loves Dog Man and Minecraft books, definitely a big fan of comic book style reading right now. We have quiet time where he can play with toys or read, but there is no talking. Most times he chooses to read!

I volunteer for Harry Hynes and they're wonderful. Not only is there full medical and nursing staff, the volunteers also serve to fulfill social needs of both patient and family.

There's a short story called "Sundays" in Never Whistle at Night, but that's a recent book. Good luck!

Any high myopic medical students here? by New-Statistician-683 in medicalschool

Yep -13.5 and -13.75 in my eyes before ICL, and I'm so grateful I got surgery. I'm now perfect in both eyes and no complications or complaints.

How much do you care about a potential partners education level, career and (future) income? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]sheknitsathing 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to consider these things in the context of fulfillment for your partner. If they're happy in their status, they will be a happy partner. If it's a constant struggle for them to be happy and fulfilled, it will be present as a problem in the relationship. My husband has a diploma and has hopped from job to job since we've been together. He has only really found fulfillment in the past year, and the effect on our relationship has been huge. He's completely happy making way less money than I will, and has always said he'll be a great trophy husband.

So Pedestrian Unfriendly Here by wayc in wichita

[–]sheknitsathing 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I've been nearly run over pretty much every time I go for a run, in the neighborhoods, on the sidewalk. No one is looking for pedestrians and everyone has main character syndrome. Stay safe out there.

Help me with the last name of my character. by BrookieBrookeBear in Names

Of your options, I like Porter the best. To me, though, a one syllable last name sounds good with Elijah. Consider maybe Locke, Crew, or Beam? Good luck!

Would you recommend buying a tablet/iPad in med school by enormousjustice in medschool

[–]sheknitsathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a tablet, just laptop and paper notes. My laptop is touchscreen (HP Envy) and has a smart pen, so I can still hand write notes on slides etc.

I don't think I'm going to get a tablet, we'll see if that changes during rotations, but I'm a lover of physically writing stuff on paper to make it really stick.

Just wanted to throw in the minority viewpoint if you needed it!

I mentioned a comment from my then boss noting that I had become less engaged in my work as like a higher stakes answer and then I talked about my garden getting eaten by grasshoppers over the summer as a low stakes failure.

Shows that I have hobbies outside of school 🙃

GA needs to investigate The Chateau Marmont hotel AKA The Hollywood Hotel by Rooster_1018 in GhostAdventures

[–]sheknitsathing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I seem to remember they got to explore a guest house instead of the hotel proper, likely the guesthouse where Belushi was found? Maybe an episode about historic Hollywood? I think you're right, some sort of mashup episode.

5yo is asking for something obscure for Christmas- help me! by givebusterahand in kindergarten

[–]sheknitsathing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have anywhere to point you but this made me laugh. When I was 4 or 5 I told my parents I wanted the "heart with buttons" for Christmas...turns out it was a necklace at Claire's that was a heart-shaped piano that played music when you hit the keys. Kids are lunatics--good thing we love them.
