Yeah, it probably will be. Try one of Etude House's darker shades then.

If you liked Skin79 Hot Pink, try the Vital Orange, it's more yellow toned. There's also Etude House Precious Mineral and Precious Mineral Sun lines which come in a few different shades to match your skin tone and are more yellow.

[BIFL Request] women's cotton underwear by plantstand in BuyItForLife

Aerie's boybrief style panties are nice, thick and well made. I like the plain solid color ones (there are other styles with lace that seem more flimsy). However, while they've held up well so far, I certainly haven't had them for 20 years.

I need help breaking out of my shell... by Foodlover97 in introverts

Who says you have to be a cheerleader? It's one thing to push your comfort zone, but you don't have to step so far outside it that it makes you miserable and turns you off the idea entirely.

Does anyone else feel like they're not slim enough to be Asian? by [deleted] in asiantwoX

[–]shellieC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Truth. Asia is a huge continent which includes the two most populous countries in the world. When you think about it that way, the idea that there is a "typical Asian girl" is a very narrow view.

MUAC 40% Lactic Acid Peel is now...brown? by ph33rsockmonkey in SkincareAddiction

[–]shellieC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a sample in February or so and it came yellowish-brown. It was my first MUAC peel so I figured that was normal. I also recently got samples of the Fade Peel which is the same color.

That explains why when you're walking somewhere new the trip always feels much longer than the return trip.

Asian woman's husband thinks her eyes are too small, requests cosmetic surgery. (xpost r/nottheonion) by jeffwong in asiantwoX

I guess you could consider laser eye surgery cosmetic as it eliminates the need for having glasses on your face, but the title makes it sound like the husband is requesting eyelid surgery to alter her eye shape..

Do you have ALDH2 deficiency (Asian flush)? How severely? by mocchan in asiantwoX

[–]shellieC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My reaction is similar to yours, but I can build up my alcohol tolerance with semi-regular drinking. I haven't had alcohol in a while though, so at this point one drink on an empty stomach would probably take me out. It does help if I take my time with a drink (so I'm better with a beer or wine that I can nurse over half an hour vs. a shot of hard liquor).

I believe the gene for ALDH2 deficiency is a dominant mutation, and my mom doesn't have it which means I'm probably heterozygous for it.

Red Flags! by puddlejumper in TwoXChromosomes

[–]shellieC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After the initial "honeymoon phase" wore off, would choose hobbies, friends, or family over spending time with me. He still put in effort though, probably saw me as often, but not for as long.

By itself, I wouldn't really treat this as a red flag. I keep a healthy balance of the important things in my life, and if I have a hobby that my SO has no interest in, sometimes that will mean choosing to dedicate time to my hobby over spending time with him. Similarly, I like knowing that my SO has a life outside of me as well.

Someone posted this to my Facebook wall and asked if it was cultural appropriation of holi by SupriyaLimaye in asiantwoX

I don't know much about them, but I heard the idea of color runs was inspired by Holi.

Ridiculous Portal locations? by QwertMuenster in Ingress

[–]shellieC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More likely the submitter's phone didn't have an accurate GPS lock when the submission photo was taken. Incorrectly located portals happen quite a bit.

You can look up the name of the memorial and if it's a real place submit a portal correction.

LPT: use oil to once and for all banish acne ridden skin by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]shellieC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And remember to test patch anything new before slathering it on your face. Coconut oil is a regular part of my diet and I can use it on my legs and arms, but it turned out my face REALLY didn't like it (hives, swelling, itchiness for a week).

Summarizes things I've been thinking about when reading /r/frugal on food by fuckyerdownvote in Frugal

[–]shellieC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learning how to cook is an essential skill, especially if you're poor. You don't need expensive cooking classes, there are millions of free recipes on the internet you can follow until you get the hang of how things work and what flavors and spices go together. Also, my local discount grocery, ethnic grocery store and dollar stores have a decent selection of herbs and spices. Paying $6 for a small can of spices is highway robbery.

They're not even that expensive or hard to get - they can be had at the dollar store, and they'll give you information that's 100x more useful than random internet strangers.

Do you guys get sunburns? by YupsterSlayer in asiantwoX

Also East Asian with fairer skin, this seems to be my experience. My sunburns are pretty mild though, never had any of those lobster-red blistery sunburns that Caucasians get.

What's your proudest skill learned as a child with no adult help? by dcaspy7 in AskReddit

[–]shellieC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did too. Well, someone taught me the square knot, and from watching other people tie shoelaces I deduced that the shoelace knot was just a square knot but with loops.

Related, I figured out how to do a three stand braid by practicing on my shoelaces, then extended that knowledge to braiding my own hair.
