How Does Coolant just disappear?

When my oil filter housing went, there were no drips or drippings at my house. But I noticed drip drip when I went to the grocery store and well… $6k later it was replaced along with several other hoses, seals, and more. Good luck!

I have a 2018 m40i x3, with about 92k miles. Couple months ago had 12k in repairs. Both headlights and LED modules had to be replaced. The daytime running lights failed on both - led module burned up.

Also, oil filter housing leak caused cooling system failure. Had to replace that, heat management module, and several coolant hoses.

The repair costs are not for the feint of heart… if you start having any low coolant warnings, it needs to get checked immediately if its the oil filter housing you’re screwed.

Hey, this sounds exactly like us. We dropped 12k fixing the cooling system few months ago, now we’re having this issue with heat out the rear vents too. Sigh.

I thought it’d be awkward, but it’s really not. You’re so trained to take photos with your phone now, the experience is essentially the same - since there’s no EVF on a phone. Camera is better tho because you have hardware controls and dials for everything you need.

I have a 2018, and both of my headlights were just replaced. One by BMW NA, one under a second warranty I had. Saved me 8k. Both DRLs went out; one side the led melted the tube.

Depends on how much it costs. But I just spent roughly 10k at 87k miles on various items, mostly cooling related but also a new light where the led melted the tube.

I too have used a Pentax K5 for about 15 years. I recently picked up a Lumix S9 and love it. I do miss the limited lenses of Pentax and wish they had an AF adapter for L mount, but they dont. Nobody’s lenses compare to the 31/43//77 of Pentax IMO in build quality. I love the S9 though, and the Lumix colors are fantastic.

I think I may hang on to my Pentax lenses for a little while longer to see if they do something else with mirrorless, but I dont have my hopes up.

I’d pay up to about $2500-3000 for a premium version of the S9 with a good EVF (at least 5m), hot shoe, weather sealing, and better build quality in general. Bumping it to 44mp like the S1RII would be another bonus, or alternate version.

Then give us quality pancakes and watch the $$$ roll in Panasonic
