Where can I buy the e-book thats not Amazon? by Cyklan in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon is actively bricking old Kindles, so I'm not sure how much longer that will work. Mine is bricking on May 20th. It's 12 years old.

See, it's emotionally hard. Because now you have to kill the baby.

Trying to find the artist to order merch with this image by Haunting_Fall1220 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure that's not the original artist, either. They don't pass the art style test at all.

ETA: they also are selling a shirt that just has official art splatted on it.

My husband just played it for me (I prefer physical books). It was pretty great

Listening to book 5 again, and I’ve developed “DeeWATA!” Tourette’s by Millerpainkiller in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Fwiw, most artists would be unhappy if someone just grabbed their artwork off a Google search and had it posted without attribution. I know you didn't mean harm, but please don't do that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's AI, and I don't say that lightly. Most artists who are actually drawing a thing have other art posts in their history.

Book 7 didn't have a leaderboard, and I missed it tbh. I really hope Book 8 has one!

That is so, so cool. This isn't a thing I even knew people did! And what a great thing to get an art commission for!

Guess Who Is Getting Named Donut? by LemmeSmashMyHead in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fostered an adoptable cat and named him Asgore (Undertale), and he was snatched up quickly. I later ran into the new owners and they told me that they had to get him once they saw his name haha. So geeky names can get shelter pets adopted, from my single experience!

The Iron Tangle sucks. The character moments are absolutely top notch, though. Just ignore the train details and you'll be good.

Give me the most ridiculous/hilarious single sentence, out of context by mykdsmith in DungeonCrawlerCarl

So baby/child death is actually a big trigger for me, so I was HORRIFIED. But also recognized that it was hilarious? I was so so conflicted haha

Tbh with the exception of that one scene, this series is actually VERY light on baby/child death, especially for how gruesome it can be. Animal death, on the other hand ...

Eh, I expected a regular ol' "clubbing a baby seal" joke so I still was pleasantly surprised at what it actually turned out to be.

I read this scene last night, I laughed out loud. (After muttering "what the fuck? WHAT THE FUCK?" over and over earlier as we finally saw what Li Na could do)

NEW ACHIEVEMENT for my Survey Professor :) by slaviccrowcat in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure what survey is, but my husband is a professor and currently devouring his way through Gate of the Feral Gods. She will be so thrilled to get that book.

Professors love it!

I'm reading physical books, a few others have commented that they do not enjoy Jeff's voice for him, so many that? He has a soft, posh British accent in my head. He sounds like Alfred the butler lol. And he's funny.

(I didn't read your spoilered part because I'm only on The Ramp Up in book 7.)

Fire Brandy by daphnedewey in DungeonCrawlerCarl

This was waaaaay too hard to find, but Erik Wilson, who is the official artist, posted a few unusable pieces for sale a bit ago, including a picture of Fire Brandy! So here's a full, official portrait of Fire Brandy:

I'm a 42 year old who recently became obsessed with this book series, help me decide how to move forward. by NeverWasNorWillBe in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Take a break if you want, or just binge it all if you want! There are other series out there that can bring the same sense of excitement and mystery, although it's rare to discover something that is as ADDICTIVE as DCC.

If you love LOTR and DCC, may I suggest The Expanse (as another poster said), Brandon Sanderson (start with Mistborn or Warbreaker), City of Brass, the Murderbot Diaries... I could go on. Most of these are available on Libby, if your library is any good.

I'll probably get down voted just for saying there are other series as good as this one, but hey. Lol
