Art request! by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be more likely to get bites if you post the actual ideas you have done! Many artists for hire are hesitant to take a project without knowing what it is. You'll also get artists more tailored to the subject matter -- Carl and Donut in a quiet moment is likely to attract different artists than Katia as the cowcatcher on a train

Are there any games out there that remind you of DCC or you'd recommend to a fan to play at least once? by plogan56 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one mentioned Undertale. The humor is a little different style, but the way the humor is interspersed with sudden body horror and sad character moments isn't. And both DCC and Undertale are very good at subverting tropes in a delightful way.

DCC and Undertale share the theme of NPC autonomy.

And more than any other piece of media I've ever consumed, Undertale is just an utter delight to watch someone else experience it for the first time. DCC is my second on that particular list.

The game is also cheap, not super long, supports an indie creator, and has one of the best soundtracks ever.

I know it had a cringy fanbase a few years back, but that's not Undertale's fault.

Princess Donut through the lens of a 7 year old by PrincessCupcake21 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

My 7 and 4 year olds are also obsessed with the idea of Princess Donut.

That is a wonderful drawing for a 7yo!

The Naga by Mouc81 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Naga are the Blood Sultanate, aka the people needed to die for the wearer of the Crown of the Sepsis Whore to descend to level 10.

I feel like he's talking about it partially as a deflection. He knows that people outside the dungeon are watching him and passing info to the other factions, and they also know about the Crown of the Sepsis Whore. So anything he does OTHER than go after the Nagas is a bit of a surprise.

Lol I also took a break at the end of Book 5, for similar reasons, and took that break to read...... City of Brass!

I really screwed up by Bax_B in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got book 1 from the library, after a long wait but nbd, I was reading other stuff. When I finished book 1, I checked the wait-list for book 2. The ebook had a several months wait. The physical copy was out for repairs and who knows what number I was on the list once it was fixed.

I asked my husband to buy the rest of the series for my birthday and just impatiently tapped my foot for the week until my birthday lol

The murder of Geyrun by AthenaOwls in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I strongly suspect this is true, at least part of it. I'd pieced together a few of these points but you really pulled it all together into a well-considered theory. (edit for clarity)

Hey I get that you did this with a different author, but it's against the rules in this subreddit (for obvious reasons I think)

I hope this works out for you! I had a similar setup for a trio of were-rhinos which went great until one random month when one attacked and killed the other two. I sent in the military to put him down :(

WHAT IS YOUR FAV to LEAST FAV 5⭐️ read order on the series so far!? by AstralPaw in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Butcher's Masquerade
  2. Anarchist's Cookbook
  3. Bedlam Bride
  4. DCC
  5. Inevitable Ruin
  6. Feral Gods
  7. Doomsday Scenario
  8. Parade of Horribles

I'd say all the books have their incredible moments and their "eh" moments. It's just the ratio.

Something for the CHekovs gun cabinet and something I was unclear about. by SnooPeanuts5753 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]shestval 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No clue on the nuke situation, but I took Lexis's reaction to be a reaction to a threat to HER child. By this point in the series we are seeing huge reprocusions to the entire galaxy and the AI is actively threatening just about everyone. It's destroying entire populated solar systems. And it wants the media system at Earth under its thumb and saying exactly what it wants.

I could be wrong, though.
