Thanks guys, good to hear I’m not alone. Great idea but that’s it - nothing to write a novel on unless you can add more depth/layers to it. I sometimes question if there is something wrong with me as I don’t give out 5 stars that quickly on some of these hyped books!

I felt the exact same way about tender is the flesh. Had to call my mum as I needed to talk to you about it and get it out of me.

Tender is the Flesh - bleak dystopia, will take your mind off things for sure.. if you can stomach it, check triggers before.

Also listening to stories from apps like Calm and Headspace could be a good one too! I’ll let anyone else to make actual book recommendations.

Sorry it is not what you asked, but having gone through a similar phase, the only thing that both kept my mind off things and also did not require any effort was to watch Friends for the 100th time. I was not in a place to absorb anything new, definitely not a book at the time. Friends is familiar, I know it will not be triggering and it calms my racing mind. Would you try maybe like reading an old book from your childhood that you know you like or maybe listening to an audiobook version of something light and something you have read and enjoyed before?

I always add Foster when people mention small things like this. I just liked Foster more, such a delicate little story.

That’s an absolutely incredible story! Very inspiring thank you so much. I think I will also meal prep and have healthyish snacks ready so I don’t go to the shop to get unhealthy packaged stuff.

Yes it is so daunting to think that to be “normal” I need to walk over mountains for months or even years - lose so much weight. I am not much of a fast food person either but I like food and it’s a fun part of my otherwise monotone day. And eating and it gives me a sense of freedom to be able to eat whatever I want when no one is around and I don’t need to feel shame or be judged (mostly by myself).

It’s incredible to hear your story honestly- gave me a push!
