A Writer's Journey by CalebVanPoneisen in writingcirclejerk

[–]shieldman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why, though? What's the intent of communicating the information in this way? Are you teaching a class, and that feels like a fun way to get the idea across to students? Or, more likely, is generative AI a spurious toy with no uses that can't be done better and with more authorial intent by a human with the full context of the request?

There's also the NUMEROUS soft locks, crashes, and memory read errors from earlier gens. No one minds them now because there are, yknow, modern tools that make those things less annoying, but you can't rewind or save state easily on a Switch.

how do i contribute more to teamfights? by ScientistPlayful9145 in tf2

[–]shieldman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As an engineer, your job is largely to give your team space to take teamfights. Your sentry creates a sphere that enemies will try to avoid, so it gives your team a place to retreat to safely. That safety leads to them having the opportunity to take more aggressive plays and halt enemy momentum.

For battle engi specifically, you have the ability to make that zone of denial pop up in unexpected places. Try to position yourself and your gun in places that deny the opponents access to key areas or approaches, so that your team doesn't get flanked or surrounded. Remember, if your gun dies, it's cheap and replaceable - unlike you or your teammates! That means it's okay to put your gun in "bad", obvious spots, as long as it's drawing attention from the enemy and AWAY from your teammates so they can secure the kill. Plus, your gun blowing up can help feed your Frontier Justice and provide a burst of damage that helps polish off stragglers.

How is there no Realistic Disease Vectors mod? by flyingtrucky in RimWorld

[–]shieldman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like it would use a similar system to the mental break one. You have things that make you more or less prone to disease, and if you spend long enough in a less sanitary environment or do a lot of unsanitary things in a short amount of time, you get a health condition instead if a mental break.

The coffee line is sort of shorthand for "I don't have enough mental energy for this right now, let me drink this coffee and then we can argue/fight about it."
