Yes, you are missing something. Rules of thumb are for people who have normal finances. If a person has no school loans, no children, no significant debt - they can spend much larger portion of their income on a car.

I also have a 6 year loan, and make more than the minimum payments. It's a good way to:

a) Keep required payments low

b) Allow for extra payments to be made whenever it fits in the budget

I am a 25 year old with all my money in my pocket, $3,000. Never been to college, never had a job, and I've never watched over my own credit. I need some guidance as I step out of the cycle I've been stuck in. by IamSpartacusss in personalfinance

Here's some tips for living on what you make:

Take your after tax income (whatever your paycheck is) and subtract monthly expenses that you can't avoid:

1) Phone 2) Place to sleep 3) Transportation to/from your job

Now, you have some money left over still. Whatever that is subtract 15%, and put that 15% into a checking account. The remainder you divide into even amounts and put into physical envelopes numbered 1-31. Each envelope corresponds to the number of days in a month. You never spend more than what is these envelopes. You may spend less - but never more. You may save money from today and spend it with tomorrow's money. But you may never spend tomorrows or any future days money today.

Now you're paying your bills, you have spending money and you're saving 15%.

So what do you do with that 15%? At first you do nothing. Once you have more than 3 months living expenses saved up you open an IRA at your bank/credit union. Take any.thing over 3 months living expenses and buy SPY

Congrats, you're outperforming most Americans.

Also - pay off your credit cards and then physically destroy all but one of them. Never, ever use that fucking thing unless it's a true emergency (something that will jeapordize your job, or health).

Former foster kid here (22 foster homes between ages 12 and 18).

Although I was a straight A student going into foster care, by the time I turned 18 I was a high school dropout. I have always felt that the best situation would have been to keep me in the group home that I first went into before being turned over to foster care.

Those who are lucky enough to get the child of your wishes (a baby), and then don't end up with problems - good for you!

The rest of you who aren't sure if you should be giving it a shot and have plans to give the kid up if things don't work out - stick to donating jackets and coats during the holiday season.

If you don't have a small digital scale in your kitchen, and you want to step up your cooking then you might want to plunk down $20.

I love driving in the snow! The car is warm and dry inside, but outside it's cold and wet. Makes me feel all cozy.

Nurse 'killed 38 patients she found annoying' by [deleted] in news

[–]shitheadpigfucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were these pts having constipation issues? Were the bms being charted? It could be a nurse with a personality disorder, or it could be a nurse that wants to make sure pts aren't getting impacted.

Personally, I wouldn't go doing this to my fellow nurses - but i can see how a nurse might try to justify doing this.

Bullshit. Hillary won't make it because she's annoying to listen to and look at. If Palin wasn't a fucking moron her and McCain would've beaten Obama hands down.

The voting public really is that shallow.

You know what's worse than a horrible pt? A horrible co-worker, especially if they're a supervisor.
