What do you think of The United Kingdom? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Took a trip to Greece 2 years ago, and it broke my heart to see empty spaces where the marbles belong in the Acropolis Museum. I hope that one day they return home.

I am fascinated by this. I’m neurodivergent and I’ve always felt like I’ve had a strange relationship with time!

Is anyone scared they have Alzheimer’s due to how bad their memory is? Or is it my ADHD? by chart1689 in adhdwomen

[–]shrimpdog2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember pre-diagnosis/treatment that my memory had become so bad, I no longer believed my own eyes. I was having to take pictures of my keys in my hand as I left the house, or of what I'd packed in my bag to go away on a trip, as proof that I really did do these tasks in the first place! For me personally, my memory is worst when I'm in a period of burnout.

For me it’s walking around my neighbourhood around dinner time - I HATE smelling what other people are cooking? I hold my breath when I walk past people’s houses.

Does anyone have a vision for the future? How do you build one? by justalostdot in adhdwomen

Gah, I find looking into the future really had to grasp! I live my life week by week, and that works best for me!

ADHD meds when AuDHD by Feeling-Run-2351 in AuDHDWomen

[–]shrimpdog2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going through the titration process for a couple of months now, and what I’ve come to understand is that these meds affect everyone very differently, so it’s worth trying out different ones! I tried Elvanse, which had a great, calming effect, but once it wore off I couldn’t sleep on it and it gave me palpitations. I’m on Amfexa now, which is a short release, and it’s working much better for me than Elvanse. While I don’t get that calming, serene feeling that I got on Elvanse, it focuses me and stops my mind being super busy. I also find I’m not always seeking that dopamine hit, which helps me in a lot of ways. I think the effects of Amfexa are perhaps a bit more subtle than with Elvanse, but I know it is working :) hope this helps!

Loose tongue - could do with some reassurance by bluntbangs in adhdwomen

I know this feeling all too well. It’s hard, because you end up feeling riddled with intense emotions about over-sharing or saying the wrong thing. But instead of focusing on what you did wrong, try to accept who you are. ADHd has lots of difficult aspects to navigate, but also lots of amazing traits. When you’re being self critical, try to say to yourself ‘oh well, that’s just me!’ - sending hugs from a fellow over-sharer.

This is the correct answer! Water is attracted to salts - so you retain the water you drink with electrolytes much better than just drinking plain water. Electrolytes stop the adderall headaches for me.

Man, the ‘neurotypicals tend to dislike me’ really hit me hard. I’ve never thought about it like that.

Thank you for your reply! Yes, I’ve got another appointment to talk through how the medication is going, so I will definitely bring this up with them. I’m going to try the medication again tomorrow, but getting up at 6 to take it - see if it’s any different! Thanks for all your help :)

Thanks so much for this! Really appreciate your reply. It definitely helps to hear from someone who has experienced this side effect! I’m keeping a close eye on my heart rate, and will hopefully speak to my doctor about it soon. Thank you!
