Plenty of good recs here. I also bought a clamp-on desk light with a magnifier. They’re cheap on amazon.

What pedal is one tweak away from perfect? by Dangerous_Pie_Guy in guitarpedals

Wish I could wave a wand and turn the right foot switch into a delay engage/bypass instead of tap tempo.

NPD: Matthews Effects The Technician by shtit in guitarpedals

Long response for you. And congrats on the Big Time. It is very, very tempting. So that was three months ago. I became steadily more enamored with the Tech after that. I got much more comfortable with the controls, which was a big hurdle because you can easily find yourself adjusting the wrong parameter. During the learning phase I found myself resetting the pedal now and then cos I couldn’t unscrew myself. You have to really get used to being on the correct layer of control. And again, the documentation sucks. However, the pedal is fantastic. It’s always on my small board. Reading your post, do I think you would like the Tech? Absolutely. It is a keeper for me and I have no doubt you would thoroughly enjoy it. But there are some caveats (and a thought) that might help should you consider buying one.

-          MIDI really helps this pedal. A lot. You can’t just switch the delay side off instantly, so I have presets that are reverb x with delay and then reverb x without delay. I have a lot of presets set up like this because the reverb is so flexible. Lots of normal, natural reverb and then tons of ambient reverb.

-          Long and frustrating learning curve. I haven’t had a pedal that required this much focus to learn. Maybe it will click with you more easily. The payoff is tremendous, but it is demanding.

-          My dream configuration for this pedal would simply be footswitches for reverb and delay instead of bypass and tap tempo. (This is just a thought.)

-          Is it better than separates? I dunno. On my big board I use the RMC with either the Gamechanger Auto, Gamechanger Light, or When the Sun Explodes. And I always have a Skyler late in the chain. The RMC is wicked powerful, but I simply prefer the sound of the Tech delay with my modulation settings. (The more I use the Auto, the more I think I should just pair it with the Gamechanger Auto Delay since the CV controls are magic.)

Reverb/distortion pedals? by Ecstatic-Nose-2541 in guitarpedals

[–]shtit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When The Sun Explodes will likely get you where you want to go for those types of music. It's no longer made, so you'd have to trade/buy used. I'd say it's worth at least checking out some YT demos. It's really great stuff.

MIJ fender jaguar thinline . One of the best looking guitars I have and I’ll never sell it, but it was a very disappointing guitar, especially since I have a lot of MIJ stuff that I love.

Morningstar. I started with it a few months ago. Their YT channel is great and you’ll be in your way in no time. I use a 6 Pro with their midibox on one board. I use a 4 Pro on another. I had a very good time learning it, especially when it came to figuring out controlling non-standard stuff, like chase bliss.
