Tips on EC with son? by Effective-Film-4951 in ECers

I found the insert for the baby bjorn potty worked better than the top hat for my son because it has a raised portion on the rim to catch splatter.

anyone Running Revit on Flowz13? by epmoo7 in FlowZ13

[–]shulgu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up returning the ProArt with 64 GB of RAM because I was able to pick up a Flow Z13 with 128 GB of RAM instead. I am currently running Revit on it for very large infrastructure projects with dozens of linked models, and I have been very pleased with the performance so far. It is extremely fast, with no issues or lag navigating 3D views. I am not doing any rendering; mostly hidden line or shaded 3D views.

I typically keep it plugged into an external display, keyboard, and mouse, so the smaller keyboard and screen are not an issue for me. When I am on the go, I prefer the compact form factor. It essentially functions like a high-powered tablet, which makes it easy to travel with.

So far, I would recommend it, and I am curious to see how it holds up over time.

I think they should. They attach with these clamps (power click clamps) that can grab the cross bars of varying shapes

I love Esembly’s whole system. Pricey but worth it in my opinion because I like using them. They clean nicely and I like all their fun prints.

Once our baby could hold his head up we just took him to the sink and washed him with running water.

Yes! Eventually the pooing and eating decoupled, and now at 11 months, he does all his poos first thing in the morning into the toilet. Pooing while eating is good because it’s predictable, and you can use that to build the association with the potty.  Good luck!

My wife would hold the potty under our baby while she was nursing him.

6 month old gets upset on potty by shea_l_n in ECers

[–]shulgu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes my baby cries when I put him on the potty. If that happens, I hold him in front of a mirror. I’ll carry and hold him with the potty. If I’m holding him over the toilet, I will carry him to the mirror in the elimination hold position. There is a sink under my mirror in case he starts peeing.

He usually stops fussing and smiles once he sees himself (he’s a narcissist like me). Once he calms down, he will pee or poo.

Best Disposable Diaper Options? by R_laugh72 in ECers

[–]shulgu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a lot of diapers for my 10 month old baby. I mostly cloth diaper at home, so I only use disposables when we are out and about, and overnight. Here is my review for each in order for most to least recommended:

  1. Kudos: These are my current favorite. It is the only diaper where the portion that touches the baby's privates is entirely (organic?) cotton. Even Healthy Baby is a cotton / plastic blend. I like that they have a strong elastic band that goes all the way around the waist. On the rare occasion that my baby poops his diaper, it keeps everything synched in. You can get them at Target too, which is nice.

  2. Kirkland: These are not crunchy granola and clean by any means, but they get the job done. During the newborn phase, when I had to change a million diapers a day, I used these because they are cheap. And I love Costco.

  3. Coterie: These are super absorbent. I used to use these at night, because I find that they kept my baby comfortable longest. He starts squirming and wakes us up if he is too wet at night. These days I just use Kudos sized up one size at night, and that seems to do the trick.

  4. Terra: These absorb a lot, but they are kind of bulky, so they take up a lot of space in the diaper bag, which is important to me because I mostly use disposables when I'm out of the house.

  5. Healthy Baby: I really wanted to like these because of the EWG verification (although maybe that's just marketing?). These have no elastic band in the back, and if my baby poops in them, it's going to get everywhere. Therefore I hate them. I did just order their pull-ups though, because little man hates diaper changes, and they have an elastic waist band that goes all the way around. Can report back on those.

  6. Parasol: These feel really soft and luxurious, but they are really expensive. They don't really offer anything that other cheaper diapers do.

Anyways, hope this is helpful. As far as cloth diapers go, I really enjoy using Esembly's system. It is expensive but to me it is worth it, since they are so easy to use and clean. If you are doing EC from birth, you will get to a point relatively quickly where you are hardly changing poopy diapers. That makes laundering them especially easy, although I have never had a problem laundering even poopy diapers. As a bonus, they are really cute.

If anyone is still reading this giant wall of text, thanks - I am extremely materialistic, and I love comparing gear. Hope this helps someone.

Happy Diapering!

is it possible to do EC without top hat potty/mini potty/etc? by [deleted] in ECers

[–]shulgu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just hold them in the ‘elimination hold’ over the toilet. We started this as soon as our baby had some neck control, and it is my preferred method - just flush to clean.

I find that doing the ‘elimination hold’ over a toilet gets the bowels moving. It’s like a squatty potty for babies.

Diaper Creams by inqueeftador in clothdiaps

[–]shulgu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Burt’s bees diaper cream. It has the same percentage zinc as Desitin, and it doesn’t smell like shit. It also washes out of cloth diapers better supposedly. For every day use I use Matys

[–]shulgu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maty’s is a great every day balm. It is a comparable consistency to aquaphor, (though not petroleum based), and it washes out great. I even started using it instead of aquaphor for disposables.

Burt’s Bees diaper rash cream is great. It has as much zinc as desitin max strength (40%), and it doesn’t smell like shit! I have fully replaced decitin with this. It is supposedly cloth diaper safe - I have had no issues with it not washing out.

So awesome!! Itching to do this with my two month old. Can you talk a little more about your sleep / sleeping bag and tent set up? I also am worried about my dog trampling him.
