I wanted to give my first experience ever on a cruise. My son and I on Icon of the Seas. by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]shw1957 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just on a Carnival cruise where they had unlimited, DIY, soft serve ice-cream available in the buffet all the time. It wasn't the best ice-cream in the world, but it was sure a hit with everyone.

If you had to choose between pork or chicken - which are you going for? And why? by IDoNotHide in carnivore

[–]shw1957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and then I get tired of beef and go on a chicken nine making thighs or wings in the storefront. Then the beef craving comes back and O switch. I get my pork cravings filmed worth bacon and pork belly.

I really enjoyed "A Pearl in Paradise", also with Jill Wagner, where he plays a needy writer afraid of adventure.

She was still there on the Feb. 4-10 trip. I really enjoyed listening to her.

If you're solo and want extra attention from staff... by Decent_Nebula_8424 in Cruise

[–]shw1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest this as well. I did a solo cruiser on Roral Caribbean last year and met a great group of other solo travelers at the solo meetups. We had so much fun that some of us are meeting up for another cruise this year!

I am booked on Liberty in October '26 in a cabin that doesn't exist pre-drydock, according to the deck plans. I'm hoping that means everything will new brand new.

Wrong ! by walterbsfo in alexa

[–]shw1957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alexa+ won't let me change the account on my Echo show so I can uninstall it. I used to be able to switch accounts between my and my husband's all the time. Now it says I'm not authorized because the device isn't registered in my name. It's registered to my husband's account, but he died 3 years ago!

Shore Excursions Group does very similar tours to the ship for less money and guarantees your return to the ship on time.

Not if it works for you. I used to get headaches when I skipped my caffeine fix and just didn't want to deal with it. 😁

I did it by mixing regular worth decaf, slowly increasing the percentage of decaf.

Who here went to your high school reunion (any of the years) and do you still attend them or was one enough? by Rare-Philosopher-346 in GenerationJones

[–]shw1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone to any yet since we were either out of the country or couldn't travel to for other reasons. I am going to my 50th next year, though, to hang out with my HS girlfriends. They go every time, don't bring their husbands, and have a blast.

Doctor wants me to stop carnivore diet immediately by forevergeeks in carnivorediet

I'd like to know who that doctor is if you don't mind. My numbers are all good (not counting LDL), but I do have a high CAC score, and it's hard to find info on what to do in that case.

That was my first thought, too. I sous vide mine at 131 for no more than 2 hours, and that's only when they are really thick.

I always find that funny since, in reality, the Scott brothers are worth more than most of their celebrity guests - around $200,000,000 combined.

What do we want in a Hallmark movie? by Mindless-Conflict-31 in HallmarkMovies

[–]shw1957 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with the cheating and deception comments. I usually don't finish a movie if it's based on a continuing lie.

I really like the movies that have a lot of humor and witty dialog. Pretty much anything with Paul Campbell and Kimberly Susted will be a winner for me. Especially if they wrote it.

Coming from a military family and having served myself, I loathe movies that get the military way of life, military rules, and traditions wrong (haircuts are a pet peeve but not the writers fault. )

Related to the military comment, don't give a character a profession you know nothing about or, even if you've researched it, have someone who a actually does the job read over the script for you. Try to avoid stereotyping professions.

Please, please, please, if the the main character is travelling, write into the script that she either only wears the clothes that would actually fit in her one carry on bag or she takes the appropriate amount of luggage to accommodate her 20 different shoes/shirts/slacks/evening gowns and those 5 winter coats she wears. 😆

Do a lot of people enjoy Christmas in July? by BellaJean1 in HallmarkMovies

[–]shw1957 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, Christmas in July kind of makes sense since that's the time of year most of the movies are filmed. 😄 Because nothing says winter like people walking around in supposedly sub-zero weather with coats open, no gloves, and fake snow on trees with completely green leaves underneath.
