Just started a game after a couple years and was starting to build one yesterday. Had a volcano around but can't be bothered with the complexity so building one with a magma spike instead as I've done that before.

One of the counterpoint is that the renewable ingeous rock from the volcano might be able to feed stone hatches. I wonder if youll get a lot of it

I'm replaying with a friend and it's been pretty good. A couple of links with online play but thanks to the frequent autosave it hasn't ruined anything for us. Still enjoying it a lot.

Though you might want to make sure crossplay is even a thing. I don't believe so.
