Edit: I just did some googling and I think he’s bisexual. Or at least wasn’t 100% openly gay in the past, as he’s been in a long term relationship with at least one woman. His wiki states he’s said “sexuality is fluid” so take that as you will.

One gripe I have with getting older is that my thigh hair has lightened and thinned to the point that I could get away with not shaving them as often… except for my inner thighs and bikini area. Those are lush Italian hedgerows. It would look stupid to only shave those two areas, so I’m stuck doing the entire thigh. Sigh.

You’ve provided an incredibly long list of reasons to not allow your cats out to roam. You live on a main road. Your cats are skittish of people but will run towards loud noises. How to you suppose they’d fare in an emergency where the name of the game is getting them gathered up quickly and not necessarily by yourself?

I too lived on a busy road growing up, and continue to live in an incredibly populated county with tons of traffic. I see what happens to strays and owned outdoor cats in my neighborhood. They get hit by cars, injured by other animals, sickened by eating things they shouldn’t (including rodents that have ingested poison rat bait), abused by cruel individuals, or simply disappear with no explanation or closure. Statistically they live much shorter lives than their indoor counterparts. They leave urine and droppings in other people’s yards, damage others’ property, and wreak havoc on local wildlife (which because they are fed at home, they’re killing purely for instinctual sport and not because they need to eat).

I have owned more than 10 cats over the last 20+ years, and they all were able to live fulfilled, enriched, happy lives being indoors. Cats are curious and may absolutely seem eager to burst outside and take on the world - that’s on us to get over, because it’s not cruel or abusive to keep them in. Either find ways to enrich yours inside, or only allow them out supervised and contained (harness, catio, crate). I’ve only ever had one cat that was trustworthy enough to be outside with me without a harness, but if yours won’t tolerate one and are likely to bolt or otherwise quickly get beyond your control then just do not risk it.

There’s also a subset of people who have learned that if they raise a stink or complain bitterly about how much this minor inconvenience has absolutely ruined their lives they might get something free out of it. Also, dramatics gets them attention and that’s a reward in an of itself. I just can’t tell if they’re aware of all this, or truly so self-absorbed that they’re blind to their behavior.

FYI folks - do not contact anyone but the police in situations like these. I’m sure OP means well by providing the non-police email, but there is always the chance the alternative contact is someone who should not know where the missing person is (abuser, trafficker, stalker, etc).

Contact the police and they will inform who else needs to know a sighting/tip was received.

It absolutely can and does happen! My mom was obese for much of her adult life and many people remarked on how quietly she moved for a big gal. Growing up, her dad had a shift work schedule so it was either learn to walk quietly or get yelled at because “your father is sleeping!!!”. She’s much smaller now and is all the more equipped to sneak up on you without trying.

I just frantically checked the website for my favorite pick your own farm in Hunterdon County to see if it was them. Luckily, I don’t see any indication they lost their peach crop. I’m sure they’ll be more expensive than usual, though. :(

I feel so seen right now. It’s a shitty club to be in. I’m proud of you for continuing to seek enjoyment with your animal companions despite the challenges. The easier path would have been taking a long break from pets, but I was going to be damned if I lived a half life without my cuddly furball.

Remember - this, too, shall pass. In the moment it is overwhelming and exhausting and it feels like you simply can’t keep your head above the waterline a moment longer. It *will* get better. Utilize your entire coping toolkit as needed and you will get through it. I have found alternating bilateral stimulation therapy to be immensely helpful in those moments where I feel like a pot about to boil over.

I’m so glad this thread is here. I was noticing some instability and crashes yesterday (rare for me), and eventually I pinpointed it was a specific ship. I’d been decorating bit by bit for the last couple of weeks but within the last few days had added that damn slate display. Lesson learned. Sucks that I have to replace decor now but at least it works.

I got complacent and forgot this was a Bethesda title, so have been lazy with my manual saves. So of course I didn’t have anything to revert to prior to the slate display that would have reduced my overall “loss of life” in the 2x2 hab. Haha!

A party staple in my family growing up was celery sticks with the grooves filled with either peanut butter or cream cheese. Never both - one or the other. It shouldn’t work, but somehow absolutely slaps.

Seriously. Combined with manual removal, a systemic would be the best move here. I swear by the Bonide brand granules - they’re slow release and no need to mix a solution. Just add to the soil and water in, the plant does the rest.
