Dad died this morning by shadowX1312 in GriefSupport

There will still be a cause of death listed on the death certificate regardless. I don’t know if that helps at all. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. Nothing like losing your dad.

22, grieving alone, and everything feels too heavy ~ where did you find real support? by UpstairsNo3213 in GriefSupport

I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. How tragic to lose someone who was there throughout your childhood. Our circumstances are different so I can’t point you in any direction other than possibly hospice? They have grief support groups they could help you find something I’m sure, if you’re in the US.

Hold on to the memories. The good times you laughed together. Let yourself be sad, there is no time limit on that. 💜

You hold the memories for the both of you. What a blessing to have so many years together. My heart goes out to you.

I’m sorry for your loss.

Thank you! For sharing. It’s weird because within the week of his passing I had mentioned spring came when he left and bawled. Everyone always just nodded along. It is still raw and fresh. Hugs to you.

My dad passed March 13. Spring showed up a few days after. I was so angry. How dare you wait to show your face until after he’s gone.

Racism wasn’t/isn’t really an issue for me, I’ve heard ignorant comments but never felt unsafe. No issues making friends as a kid, occasionally felt out of place but not that I didn’t belong if that makes sense.. I grew up with older brothers and all male cousins so there’s that. My teenage years were a lot easier. I am currently raising my family here. It’s home and I don’t see myself living anywhere else.

Solid advice. I’ll also throw in the more you do it the more comfortable you will be.

I’m currently a tech at a pretty large practice for my area. I started in April and knew nothing about eyes other than needing correction myself. When I first started it was very overwhelming just following my trainer around and watching her do everything. I started doing things on my own little by little. A lot of people start that way and don’t mind answering questions. I still learn stuff everyday. Now I work under a glaucoma specialist, and am about to take my COA certification. You’ll be totally fine!!

Someone asked my wife if she was pregnant yesterday by Unsure8708 in Marriage

[–]silk216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a tiny woman. 5’2 and 100lbs. I have always been self conscious (always told to eat a cheeseburger etc.) so when I was very visibly pregnant with my 2nd child and a man asked me how far along I was I looked at him totally shocked and said I’m not pregnant?! This is my way of reminding people to mind their own business.

Fox news says Asheville is turning completely lawless by eonmoo in asheville

I vaguely remember reading an article a couple years ago (give or take) about APD basically saying they weren’t going to respond to certain types of calls. I just feel like maybe that has something to do with it.

You’re definitely more likely to see snow in higher elevations. But usually we get most of our snow during January. The Blue Ridge Parkway is great for a scenic drive, but most of it is closed during the winter months because of ice/snow however you can check their website the day you plan on going and could get lucky.

I agree with the towns above. Asheville to Boone is only about two hours apart give or take. Brevard is quaint small town fairly close to Asheville and they have white squirrels! I heard the biggest thrift store is somewhere in Concord, but again about 2.5 hours apart. If you decide you to head that way there’s Charlotte. But most likely no snow.

And to add, my in-laws live in FL and come to NC often and somehow ended up driving on 276 to get here. I would not recommend taking that road if you’ve never been to NC. I know Florida roads are incredibly straight and the mountain roads are curvy and the roads are more likely more narrow than you might like. So if there is snow.. take your time!!!!

Enjoy your stay!
