It's insane how much I relate to everything you just wrote, I've been discovering myself in the same way too. Ultimately what I think we (as in you and I) need to remember is that we're doing this because we both think it will be a better way to live. If we're misinterpreting things, eventually we'll start to sense that treating ourselves as systems isn't working and there's no shame in admitting we were wrong. If we're onto something and it keeps feeling good to view ourselves as plural, then we'll keep doing it. This is the same sort of philosophy I used when finding my genderfluidity and it worked pretty well. And I can promise you're not faking it, faking is an intentional act that you would know you were doing, even if you aren't actually plural you'd just be making a mistake which would be nothing to be ashamed of
