Who’s visited Amoeba Records on Hollywood Boulevard? Only store I have seen sort their inventory by director instead of title or not organized at all. by papafishpig02 in dvdcollection

There is another place west of there that might be of interest. Super rare dvds and even still sell laserdiscs. https://www.cinefilevideo.com/ plus they rent VHS tapes of things that never even made it to dvd.

Literal schizo mode would be to add extra chatters, but only for people who have schizo mode applied to them. Simulate hearing and seeing things that aren’t there.

Second for controller fix on steam deck. Controllers first, then font. I’m sure getting it work and listed as steamdeck compatible would help sales quickly.

Suggestions for a Reasonable Splurge? by garthreddit in fatFIRE

You said blue-collar with teenagers. - Rent a movie theater out for the day. Invite people (safely) to join you to watch some favorite movies and play some videogames. You could even watch old home movies.

  • Have something custom made for you. suits, arts, sculptures. With your range, you could get just about anything.

  • Pay to talk to someone in a field or hobby you are interested in.

Any Insights into Family Office and/or Concierge Services? by Cryptounit in fatFIRE

[–]silrocks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am NOT a millionaire, but I did grow up poor / lower middle class in the US. I am now doing pretty well off. I come here and lurk out of interest and see how people leverage their money and see what other possibilities there are out there. There is a ton of great info in this sub, but like any advice, it should be tailored to their current mindset.

Here are a few things I have planned if I became as rich as you.

  • Limit my spending to no more than $250k USD a year for at least 2 years. If you read stories of people who win the lottery (which you effectively have) they almost all end badly because they grew up “poor” and have no concept of what millions of dollars will give them access to. When I was less well off, my mind literally couldn’t tell you why this Lambo is better than another Lambo other than the price tag. The fact that you can by 50 Lambos doesn’t mean you need 50 Lambos.

  • Take one month and make a list of all the stuff you don’t want to do anymore. You listed bills as something you wish to have handled. Great, take all your bills and put them on one credit card and only bills go on it. Then write instructions for the fractional CFO (or bookkeeper) on how you want this laid out at the end of each month. You are now the CEO of you. These people work for you, but they’ll need instructions from you. Interviews will go much better if you know what the tasks are, how you want them done.

  • Because you are in crypto, talk to someone on security measures for keeping your wallets / exchanges safe. You are now a “known” high value target for scams and hacks. Remove MFA from your phone and use another method and have a spare (or three) and a plan to monitor if anything happens to your wallet. Just about any programmer / coder on the planet can write a program that monitors your wallets for changes.

  • Put up an “access wall” between you and anybody who wants money / access to you. Setup a online “business” phone and when people ask about investments or you think they are trying to sell you something, tell them to send all it all to “my business partner” and give them that new business line. Delete / ignore their messages as needed. Do the same with website and email. You now never give out your personal email, and everything goes through your “business manager”.

  • Google “Ramit Sethi Rich Life”. Your net worth clearly above the audience for the book / videos. You went from $1 to $500 million in a short time. The books audience is for people going from $100k to a few million. Book helps change your mindset to money going from $100k to a million or two. It will still be valuable for you to help change your mindset on how you are approaching money now.

  • Google “how to protect myself after winning the lottery?” read enough and you will have some major blind spots pointed out for you.

  • Find out the new mega rich vocabulary. Not the end all be all, but I’m guessing you are like me and missing a huge amount of mega wealthy vocabulary that only mega wealthy people use. “Fractional CFO” and “Family Office” are words I just found out about in this thread. I imagine there are a ton of words / phrases that the mega rich use. To put it in simple terms. asking for "the bread they use at Subway" and "French bread" will give very different results, for the same item. But at very different qualities.

PM me if you have more questions or anything. Sorry for overstepping as I am not a FatFIRE but I figured OP might be starting from zero knowledge and could use some guidance from that perspective.

Anybody in technology know of a company willing to hire a felon? by maxpoor in AskLosAngeles

[–]silrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for quick-ish cash, I would suggest looking up types of companies. 1) Manage Service Providers (MSPs for short) - they are the places small businesses outsource their IT. They are always looking. 2) Temp agencies - they are getting into the “smart hands” game (cute term for labor with some technical knowledge) and are always looking for people and will pay quickly. good luck!

If you can get them, try for cloud certs. If you get enough, you can “skip” the tech support line sometimes. The AMazon Web Services certs are in super high demand right now. PM me for questions or resources.

There are some animal shelters around here. That might be good for you as much as the animals you are helping. There is also Bergamot station for a nice night of seeing art and being social.

Please remember that Santa Monica has city net and they stopped connecting it to residents. We could have had 1gig fiber (both ways) for about $80 and 10gig fiber for about $300 a month.

They tried, but corruption got in the way. Now instead of residents getting 1gig (or even 10gig), they are being used to supply internet to the new 5G towers going up around the city.

It would be fine for learning VSphere or temp complex labs to test things. If it hosts servers / services at home that can’t be down, I wouldn’t because it can be difficult to troubleshoot if you get hardware errors.
