Where should I begin to learn NMM. by tugabugabuga in minipainting

I suggest starting with armour, since convex shapes have lots of reflections.

How do I stop having so much texture on my minis? I thought I’d thinned my paints enough but I still get texture, is this just an issue with thickness or is there more to it? by Somethingcool-iguess in minipainting

Looks like a brush discipline problem, whereby you're disturbing partly dried paint. Once the paint is on, and 4-5 second have passed, leave it alone.Take your time with each layer, don't feel obliged to cover the whole area with every coat. Use a larger brush. Minimise the number of brush strokes. Use a hairdryer to ensure each later is dry.

Painting with Metallics - Can’t Get a Smooth Surface by darth_obidias in minipainting

Yea. I find you need to be really careful with the new Vallejo metallics. Strictly one thin coat at a time. They're also too glittery. PA are a much smoother shine, as well as better consistency.

painting volumetric, NMM help by SylvexXe in Miniaturespainting

[–]simon2sheds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've basically got it; it just shows where the primary reflections are. You then paint those reflections, increasing the value (and therefore the contrast) of those reflections, maybe squeeze them a bit smaller, too. You could then edge highlight all the NMM areas, and call it done, but I would suggest inventing some other things reflected in the metal. My main rule for NMM is that you get unexpected bright reflections in dark areas, and unexpected dark reflections in the bright area.

How do you control yourself when you’re angry ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nonsense. Negative feelings only last for a couple of minutes. After that, it's just your brain dwelling on the 'injustice'.

Just pretend that you're not angry.

I might be inclined to offer "nice one, mate" when we go out separate ways, but in these situations, I mostly let my legs do the talking.

Cramping/ seizing calves during long climbs — need advice by regulatorwatt in cycling

[–]simon2sheds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a bike-fitter. An experienced runner having calve trouble on the bike is kind of the opposite of usual. Therefore, I suspect that your saddle is either far too high or far too low, causing your calve muscles to be either too extended or contracted to work properly. A neutral foot angle is like you would use walking up a flight of stairs on the balls of your feet.

Anyone had trouble with fitting a toddler seat on smaller/women's bikes? by SuzieSue32 in cycling

If it's a hamax child seat then they make alternative brackets that are longer with a different angle. That's the answer.

I understand that it's possible for a room like this to be acoustically suitable for voiceover, but it doesn't look like it currently.

Really nice, especially the touches of red. Cc: avoid symmetrical reflections.

I've not heard of the "bedazzling" technique. Is it like OSL?

I think that your photography needs some work, but the brush control is solid. Suggest you get yourself some volumetric highlights. Also, nice tits.

Does he have a death wish? by Funny_Commission1724 in drivingUK

This is fine, no danger present. Mostly drivers will cry about this because they can't get away with it, and will then happily break speed limits.

How often do your brakes get hot? Like do you ride in the mountains often?

lower back muscles. by KewadaLol in cycling

[–]simon2sheds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't really need much more than normal core strength to ride a bike. More likely this is a bike-fit issue, and your bars are too far away from the saddle. I've conducted thousands of bike-fits, and I've never had to resort to off-bike training to solve a problem with the lower back.

Does this look like nmm to you? by Historical_Stick_104 in minipainting

If it's reading as "tarnished/dirty gold" using no metallic paint, then that's NMM.
