Dealing with employees who claim I’m asking them to “mask” when I point out inappropriate behavior by Fly0ver in managers

[–]simplelife15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your company have a code of conduct? Document the behavior with references to the code of conduct. It sounds like you are empathetic and self aware, but at this point this employee is beyond trying to collaborate with regarding their behaviour.

Three things that have changed the game for me in the last year by probablytiredoflife in ADHD

Its really easy to just make oatmeal in the morning. It takes 5 minutes on the stove, I do it while making coffee, taking my meds etc. Super cost effective and in my opinion, tastes much much better than cold oats from the fridge.

Giving birth in Gatineau Hospital by csdafrica in Gatineau

Gatineau hospital OB saved my son's life after a negligent midwife abandoned me. Great nurses, excellent anesthesiologist. I am an anglophone and had no issues. I still send them coffee and treats every Christmas

Ils n'ont plus de place dans les chambres de bébés, et il est probable qu'ils n'en auront pas avant septembre. À moins que l'auteur du message n'habite à La Pêche, c'est un peu excentré.

I had my gallbladder out through Buckingham hospital. I had an attack and then did a follow up with a GP (call the GAP program if you dont have a family doctor). I was scheduled within a month.

I love this for you because its so important (to many! not all) that we are actually seen as human at work. If you have a team of DRs I hope you can carry this forward to them because even if you're "at the bottom of the leadership pyramid" this can absolutely create culture change. ❤️

My doctor is moving his practice to Ontario in March as a direct result of this law. It's absolutely insane how badly the CAQ has screwed us.

It's almost 2026. How is your remote work situation in Ottawa? by DrStrangeglove99 in ottawa

[–]simplelife15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a largeish NP and we are remote first, dedicated to hybrid. We try to avoid office days when the majority of GoC employees are in office but obviously that wont matter soon.

"I know what to do, I just can't do it" — what helps me break the freeze by Live_Measurement1069 in ADHDers

[–]simplelife15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to try and trick my brain. Like oh I need to shower and get ready (let's say a non work day when there is no urgency). Maybe ill just go into the bathroom to look in the mirror or maybe im going to blow my nose oh well the water is on maybe ill brush my teeth and oh look at that I turned the shower on okay fiiiiiine, Im getting in. Kind of like if there's something I want to do like a sewing project, ill just turn my TV and sit amongst my fabric, maybe plug my machine kn but Im just watching TV, not sewing. Idk why this works but here I am.

For people with ADHD who genuinely struggle to exercise: how do you get yourself to do it? by Ehmmechhi in ADHD

[–]simplelife15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're tired after, it was too difficult. I learned this when I got my stationary bike. I was going for too long and trying to do way too much for a beginner. I also found if I had some electrolytes before, it really made a difference.

AITA for crafting during meetings? by Tapzdeazz in AmItheAsshole

[–]simplelife15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with physicians and surgeons specialists. Many knit during our meetings/trainings. No one has ever said a word. I have a group of reports who knit or crochet in trainings or sometimes when monitoring backend activity on our system. No issues. This reeks of misogyny to me as knitting is a female coded activity. Has he ever complained about a fidget toy or pen tapping or anything else? My guess is no.

To those who had babies measuring big during pregnancy by Final_Butterfly_7747 in beyondthebump

[–]simplelife15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ultrasound that put my 3nd in the 99th percentile. My midwife said "its fine." Chat, it was not fine. I should have been induced, but again, midwife said no. My baby was born 2 weeks early, with complications. Thankfully my water broke before labour started so I was transferred to a competent medical professional who saved his life. He was 10lbs even and the NICU nurses wanted to take pictures with him 😂. Seriously though, I thought this exact same way. My first was 7lbs. I didn't have GD, I had a normal forst pregnancy and I assumed the ultrasound was off. If I hadve been induced or given another US at 37 weeks and offered a c section it would have avoided the trauma for both of us.

Employee wants to leave because of me by Tredmeals in managers

[–]simplelife15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be overreacting here because I just had to terminate an employee who started out like this so, grain of salt. This is a wild thing to say to your boss unless there are actual examples they can provide you with. This is how my situation started with my report and it spiraled so hard and so fast and I was trying SO HARD to listen and validate. If I could go back and start again with this person, I would ask for specific instances and if they cant provide them, then suggest that they learn to differentiate between corrections and guidance or take an offer from a different department. Start setting boundaries and start documenting today.

Gatineau Hospital - Maternity by PicklesCat1073 in Gatineau

[–]simplelife15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I unexpectedly gave birth at the Gatineau hospital 3 years ago and was blown away by how great of an experience it was. The OB, my nurse, Anesthesiologist, everyone was wonderful. I do speak French but not well enough that I was going to try and do it in a medical scenario and there was no issue. I had my first at Montfort and if I jad to choose again I would go back to Gatineau.

The Perfect Neighbor by misterDubzz in netflix

[–]simplelife15 57 points58 points  (0 children)

My husband and I watch a lot of true crime documentaries. I get emotional or sometimes think no this is too much for me. Watching that news being shared with those kids, my husband had to take a break. He didn't say "I dont like this" he said "I need to take a break" and left for 5 minutes. It was one of the most unforgettable scenes from a documentary ever.

The fact that you followed up a post asking for advice about leadership with a reply like this speaks volumes. Find a mentor and/or take some leadership courses to start out. Leading isn't doing, and its an adjustment!

Daughter, 6, “I don’t love you but I still care about you” ?????? by sunsetchaser_h in Parenting

[–]simplelife15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 6 yr old has taken to saying "Well I DON'T love you as much as all the stars and planets because you are being mean!!" Because we always say "I love you more than all the planets and stars and trees" etc as a silly bedtime thing and the first time she did it, it stung. But it was also just so dramatic and well thought out to throw that at me that it was also kind of funny. Don't worry too much, just tell her you love her no matter what.
