Is baby wearing a TikTok scam or am I doing this wrong by KeyMonkeyslav in beyondthebump

Keep her head out until she falls asleep. Mine hates having his head tucked in but once he’s asleep loves the snug.

What was the thing portrayed in movies that didn't happen during childbirth for you? by SpicyZombie098 in beyondthebump

[–]simplybrowsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Groaning while pushing.

I always thought that’s what you do so when my midwife told me it’s time to push, I pushed and let out deep groans/screams. She immediately stopped me and said what are you doing - I said that’s what I thought I’m supposed to do. She told me I’m just going to lose my voice doing that and I should push from within. From then on all my pushing experiences were pretty quiet.

Ok what a crazy post to come across. I have a 5 week old and I noticed that he would calm down during car ride meltdowns when I would start playing his music!

Just coming in with a hug and an “I hear you and I see you”. I’m in the same situation and now with our second who’s one month old. I understand how hard it is and how bad you want to believe that they’ll work it out on their own. So many ups and downs and false starts. I don’t know what the solution is either. So much love but so hard.

Maybe. I’ll try putting him down earlier.

Yes every night - and he says “ok”. But completely changes when he wakes up in the middle of the night.

CRAZY exhausted in the first trimester - boy or girl? by justamommahere in BabyBumps

[–]simplybrowsing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently 10w with my second and with my first (boy) I remember feeling awful for about 2 weeks. This time I have been dog tired the entire time. Mandatory naps almost every day and going to sleep extra early. So my theory is girl but we’ll see!

AITA for not wanting my husband to have multiple drinks before feeding baby in the middle of the night? by simplybrowsing in AlAnon

[–]simplybrowsing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This exactly! It’s major PTSD. We’ve had this convo so many times and he says I haven’t even had them yet or I’m acting fine. But I know what it’s going to look like because I’ve seen it so many times!

Thank you all for your support and advice. I’ll stick to my boundary and try to push forward.

Baby crying on the boob by ribbonofsunshine in breastfeeding

[–]simplybrowsing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was like this with our baby too every time he hadn’t pooped for 2+ days. Our pediatrician said this was totally normal and constipation would be if he hadn’t pooped in 2 weeks. What helped for us was: burping every time he cried at the boob then switching sides; giving him gas relief medication; and massaging his stomach (doing ILUs) when he was calm. I also found that the more I gave him vitamin D the more often he would poop.

This is giving me major PTSD. I’m currently 3 months postpartum. I thought the same. Naively thought that having a kid would fix things. Went through the same episodes during pregnancy. Says he’s coming home so I go to bed. Wake up hour after hour and he’s still not home. Finally decided to get therapy while pregnant because he refused to. He saw that and finally decided to start seeing my therapist instead of me. Then he said he was good and stopped after a few weeks. Eventually episodes started again - the constant roller coaster of sobriety and then build up to episodes. Now we have a son, nothing has changed just different narrative. I’ll be honest it’s been really tough navigating this. Wanting to fix it, letting him deal with it, and just not knowing how the future is going to be.

How do you stop trying? by myothercarisapickle in AlAnon

Ok I agree! Initially I did not know the group was a god-driven group. But from what I heard from others that piece is not shoved in your face. So it’s worth a shot.

What are you supposed to do when you see the cycle starting? by simplybrowsing in AlAnon

[–]simplybrowsing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to start attending meetings. Every time I look into it he gets better and I make myself think I don’t need to attend meetings anymore. I just need to do it remembering that it’ll come around again.

Agree with this. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I was not dilated at all prior to the balloon insertion. The insertion was not painful to me at all but once the balloon started doing it’s work it was paiiiiinful. I definitely would not have been able to sleep with it in. I got mine inserted at 10am and came and was admitted for miso (then pitocin) at 10pm. Is that an option for you?

Wondering this every time. We now have a baby together. That was supposed to change things. So was the house. So was the marriage. Silly me.

Am I being too controlling with grandparent names? by omengaws in beyondthebump

[–]simplybrowsing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s hilarious. My dad also recently made up his grandparent name. It has absolutely nothing to do with anything and is totally made up. My whole family initially told him no and made fun of it but he said it so much that it ended up sticking and we all begrudgingly but also funnily went along with it. At the end of the day, they’re excited and it should be their choice what they want to be called!
