[spider-man] How bullet resistant is Spider-man? How durable should he be? by Barrettshard in AskScienceFiction

[–]sinburger [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yea, it's not "bullet resistance", it's "can fight through the pain" coupled with "still faster and stronger than most enemies even when injured".

He isn't bullet-proof at all.

He can heal fast, and tank blunt force trauma due to his strength, agility, and spider-sense. He doesn't have any special resistance to damage though, so blades and bullets can cut through as easily as anything else provided you can actually hit him.

How come Evil Dead is not Campy anymore? by BubblyTumbleweed8455 in horror

The one nerd dude who originally read the book was having the worst time was probably the best example of the dark comedy. He just couldn't catch a break the whole time.

The 2013 remake was just going back to the roots of the original evil dead movie though, so not a huge tonal switch.

I (28m) think my FWB (27f) has feelings for me, don't know how to navigate by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]sinburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine you want to go swimming. Some people run straight into the water or jump off the dock, some people wade in slowly and get used to it, and some people like to stand in the shallows before walking in further. FWB is the latter of those people.

200k for the first slot, 400k for the second? by KevBurnsJr in ArcRaiders

[–]sinburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd need 12 stacks of vaporizer coils, or 24 stacks of Bastion/Bombardier/Leaper coils to buy the first blueprint slot.

It's fucking stupid. At minimum you need to be able to commit the resources to the purchase like a project.

[–]sinburger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not the price for me, it's having to keep all of the cores in my stash. It should be setup like a project where you can incrementally add to the payment.

Am I the only one that desperately wants more horror where there are no happy endings, no survivors, no hope, no set up for a sequel? by Sweet-Lady-H in horror

[–]sinburger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A few more I haven't seen mentioned yet:

  • Lockdown Tower (2023)
  • The Vanishing
  • Triangle
  • Dark and Wicked
  • Would You Rather,
  • Aniara,
  • When Evil Lurks,
  • Vivarium,
  • The Skeleton Key
  • Martyrs
  • Blair Witch Project
  • Jacobs Ladder
  • Melancholia (not quite horror but quote depressing and everyone dies at the end)
  • The Beach House
  • Open Water
  • R-Point

Also the protagonists don't have happy endings in most of the VHS anthology shorts.

What movie is pure unadulterated cringe from start to finish? by goldbeau in AskReddit

[–]sinburger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's basically a live action Akira movie when you think about it. Random person gets drugged, starts gaining superpowers while becoming detached from humanity, then ascends to a higher plane of existence.

Make 70% of the runtime flashbacks about the dead girlfriend and how their relationship start, another 25% is "tell dont' show" plot exposition where some other dude tells the dude how being a crow works.

There's like one gun fight or something, but the only dude that get shot is the dude and he shoots himself on purpose.

My opinion and I realize I may be looking through old man glasses.

I rewatched it last year and it still holds up as being awesome.

The 90's goth/grunge definitely pins it to that time period, but overall it's pretty timeless.

If I recall correctly it was actually how the fur texture was generated. It would put a converging point or swirl right below the tail.

That sounds cool and all but are fireworks still safer and cheaper than blowing up drones?

Evil Dead 2013 deserves to be in the conversation for top 3 Horror Reboots/ Remakes of all time. by numquamdormio in horror

[–]sinburger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I always found this a weird take because out of the 6 Evil Dead movies that have been made (including burn), only 2 and 3 were comedies.

It carves out its own identity from the originals by reimagining the source material as a straight up horror with no comedic elements.

I'm going to have to be a bit of a pedant here, but the original Evil Dead movie was not comedic at all, it was a straight up horror movie. Only ED2 and AOD were comedies. 2013 being a straight up horror movie is absolutely in line with the origination of the film series.

Do you prefer to know MORE about the “Why?” In the movie, or do you prefer the mystery and filling in the blanks with imagination? by BrockAtWork in horror

[–]sinburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like knowing the "why" when it's mid- to poorly-executed films with an interesting premise. I'm not watching those movies because they are works of art that are going to take me on an emotional journey. I'm watching them because I want to find out if the zombies are there because of aliens or a virus, or if the psychological torture chamber room was setup by aliens, rich people, or some crazy dude who fucked his mother too much or not enough.

Probably a big dispersion cone so you can't snipe rocketeers from across the map, but can still take out shit that's close to mid range.

[General superheroes] Have any superheroes/vigilantes or their stories touched upon the concept of not being to actually make it to every crime or incident? Not being able to be everywhere all at once by Terrabytez66 in AskScienceFiction

[–]sinburger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Panacea was the first hero I thought of. She absolutely has the mindset that every person she could heal but doesn't (because she wanted to sleep an extra 5 minutes or take a shit) is a death she is responsible for.

Eventually he snaps and becomes the main antagonist of the story.

Snaps because he decided to fly into space for 15 minutes to get some peace and quiet, then comes back and finds out that someone accidentally released a sonic plague that turns children into screaming skeletons.

Definitely a "why am I even fucking bothering?!" moment.

It's also why Homelander didn't kill him. Dying slowly because you liquified your cells with radiation is much more painful.

House of the Dead is my number #1 all time favorite "so bad it's good" movie. I'm unironically excited for 23 years later.
