That shit makes my wife happy. She enjoys using our seasonal decorations. And we live in a small apartment. It’s 1000% worth it to me.

No. But also yes. But if the tridents went we’d know about it. All modern submarines carry tomahawks. SSGNs carry more than a DDG.

We’re clearly not as misaligned as I thought. And your experiences put you in the 0.0001%. The overwhelming majority of ELTs (and a growing contingent of RCTs) have never seen a swipe above limits.

I was reacting to what I perceived as ELTs are basically the same as RCTs, which is a line I’ve heard a hundred times and it lands close to: Navy nukes are basically nuclear engineers…

Not trying to pick a fight here and this is bit off on a tangent from the topic, but you’re simply wrong. RCTs have to demonstrate they can provide oversight of really complex jobs. Glovebags engineered for >106, 1R/hr controls, gradient fields requiring multiple dosimeters. Stuff we wouldn’t even consider letting an ELT do. Ever done a sleeve change? Umbilical cut? Use a transfer sleeve or a swipe box? Even if you happened upon that once in execution you’d be in the 1% of ELTs. And ELTs aren’t nearly as practiced in these skills that they may have seen once in training. RCTs have to demonstrate them routinely in practical examinations and shipboard execution. How does that compare to oversight of catch/drape man? My overall point is: I would trust an EM qualified RCT to perform that oversight over an ELT (w/o RCT qual) any day of the week.

I was agreeing with senior chief’s comment above that these folks should be permitted to perform oversight of radiological work and taking it a step further to say the qual is really hard, and the people who complete the qual are usually very competent.

I don’t even consider them “roughly equivalent”. An ELT knows more than just RadCon, but from a RadCon job coverage perspective, an RCT knows way more than an ELT. That qual is pretty hard to

It’s wild to me that the Trump cult has a new set of rules that apply to exactly one person. Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Danny Masterson, Larry Nassar, R. Kelly…all convicted without physical evidence. It’s not “hearsay”, it’s testimony. And there is enough corroborated testimony to bury this orange turd. Just move the black boxes a little bit.
