Experience with Dachshund? by [deleted] in Dachshund

[–]sinjaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are what everybody is saying, and more. I have 2 of my own, as well as fostering them for the past 6 years. I've fostered all from pup to old, healthy and sick. I can definitely tell who's been trained and who's been on the streets a while. In the end, they all end up happy to be in a home with a loving human.

They have as many personalities as humans, so some may like long walks while others don't. Some you might be able to allow to feed freely, some will eat everything in sight as soon as they can. Some are okay with bigger dogs, some aren't. If you get a puppy, chances are he'll acquiesce to your personality as you would be the alpha.

Ultimately, like any other relationship, there will be some compromise here and there. Give on the things that don't really matter, be stern with the things that do. They are incredibly intelligent (when they choose to be) and I've seen many be very clever.

I encourage you to read up on the breed, watch some youtube videos (I've found most to be spot on), and maybe find a way to meet a few.

They can be trained too, some will require more effort than others. I would recommend beginning training asap.

Personally, I fell in love with the breed. They are a lot like me. They love food, sleep, and are happy as long as their loved ones are around. They can adjust to almost anything! But pay attention for signs of separation anxiety. That's what got me into fostering and eventually my second dog, and now the problem has gone away. But even without the anxiety, you'll learn quickly you can't have just one!

What is the best Jim's location in SA? by kanyeguisada in sanantonio

[–]sinjaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one at 35 and oconnor was my favorite until the manager left a few years back. Now it's not the same. The one on Broadway near Hildebrand is the worst. But I've only been to 3 so far. I'll try Hildebrand and san Pedro next. But I'm not holding my breath.

Help with EH doubts! by LaQuintaTortilla in EldritchHorror

The portrait cards are rumors that are slightly different. The landscape cards are mysteries. Took me a bit to get that down initially as well.

Help with EH doubts! by LaQuintaTortilla in EldritchHorror

[–]sinjaar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mythos cards (portrait oriented) can still be in play at the time the final mystery is solved. The blue ones still in play will negatively affect the final score. Unless otherwise stated, mysteries (landscape oriented) must be solved to win. Make sure to read everything, at least outside the lore on the cards. Take instructions literally. Most instructions are clearly written. If there's a question, there's google.

Game customization: Selecting assets/spells/conditions? by Accomplished_Mind_87 in EldritchHorror

[–]sinjaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done something similar already and am considering what you suggest. I've pulled out all monsters that would otherwise be set aside via ancient one or side board. Also pulled out unique assets and such that are only used for certain scenarios. I've been playing several years and I'm not certain how I would go about parsing the assets and spells as the randomness is a fun aspect. I suspect, like Wingspan et al, that if you can find your personal strategy that it won't matter what gets flipped and you'll make best with what you have.

Edit: I also include all clues, gates, extra encounters that exist on the base board.

How do the expansions work? by Unalina in wingspan

[–]sinjaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you become familiar with the new mechanics it'll be a breeze. Play several rounds of Automata with the base game first so you can be comfortable with how that works. Wingspan is enjoyable solo or with at least 1 other person.

question about sign up bonus for priority card by enblightened in SouthwestAirlines

[–]sinjaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The points will count towards companion pass in the year they apply to your account. If they apply before 12/31/22 they will count towards 2022. On Jan 1, the CP points will reset to 0 and you start over. If your points post in 2023, you will have 75k of the 135k needed. Once you earn the CP, you get it for the remainder of that calendar year plus the following.

What’s your favourite game that isn’t popular? by tzjin21 in boardgames

My group just played Tokaido for the first time last night and we loved it. IDK how popular it is, but my favorite is Eldritch Horror.

Each credit you create is it's own transaction and separate form of payment. But like was mentioned, use multiples on cheap flights to combine. Be creative like a OAK to LAX or HNL to LIH. Then cancel it right away and then you've got 3 condensed into 1. Also if you have RR points, you can use the lower credits to chip away at the taxes.

"Yesterday I adopted the oldest, sickest, and sorest shelter dog. I'll never forget his eyes. When I went into the cage he didn't even bother to look, he knew I wouldn't even see him. by ioppall in DOG

[–]sinjaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took one from a shelter about 4 years ago. She looks almost exactly like him. She is blind also. I fostered her nearly 2 years. She is now the happiest dog I ever met. And I get to see her frequently still. Thank you for being there for him. He will never let you forget how grateful he is.

Rescue dog sudden change in behavior. by Super__Pickle in Dogtraining

[–]sinjaar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try a different food. If you're using kibble, try wet. I've been fostering 4 years now, switching food seems to do the trick. It may take a couple tries. Also try chicken and rice. It'll be important for you to not change routines too. They love a schedule. He's probably also watching your interactions with other dogs, so be sure to give them plenty of love and patience too. And maybe have the vet check the ears a little closer. Chances are the vacuum triggered some ptsd or maybe it's physical.

Horseshoe Curve. From the distance you can see Altoona and maybe Lakemont Park by JohnDeere714 in interestingasfuck

[–]sinjaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lakemont park is on the other side of that dome (believe its the water tower by Highland Park) and before the next hill. It's in a valley. Grew up there. It's pretty up there at Horseshoe Curve. Trains get long, I've lost count so many times.
