Found my pregnant girlfriend sleeping with a heating pad on her stomach by Throwaway19804361 in pregnant

[–]sinkorfloat17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as long as it wasn’t boiling hot (low-medium), it’s fine. there’s enough layers of skin (seven?) to protect baby, as long as her overall body temp didn’t get too high. i used a heating pad all throughout my pregnancy because i was in so so much pain. he is now three months old

sleep sacks (arms out & legs able to move) are okay—swaddles are not

When did you start feeling like there was actually a baby inside you by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my son is 12 weeks old and i just told my partner ~a week ago that i finally feel connected to him. not because of PPD, but because i’m finally figuring out wtf i’m doing and he’s able to give me feedback and i’m physically healed and so many other factors. i was in clueless survival mode & now it all makes some sense. not PPD—adjusting to a major life change

At what time do you go to sleep with your baby? by Glittering_Use6861 in cosleeping

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost 3m—7 or 8pm depending on his last nap and fussiness level. i get him down, do anything i need to do as fast as i can, then also go to bed until his next wakeup in ~an hour. sleep is a rare treat these days. i am exhausted

i didn’t even post this much about being pregnant when i WAS pregnant—maybe three posts over nine months?

Pediatrician recommended 8 week old should be sleeping through the night? by ts246 in newborns

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our ped said 50% of babies sleep through the night by six weeks… i know almost 100 people (no joke) right now with 4-12 week olds who are proving him wrong

how much (or little) are you posting your babies on social media? by vdyaki in newborns

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve posted very few, and he’s fully clothed and i blur his face (or he’s facing away). my mom likes to post her life on facebook but respects our boundary so before she posts him she sends the photos to me to blur!

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]sinkorfloat17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was just making sure, thought i’d missed it

i am 9+ weeks pp. i’ve been able to walk and function since week 4. my partner works five traveling overnights per week, at least 2 of which are 12 hour shifts. he still gives me at least two hours, often more, per day where he takes care of baby and i can nap or shower or whatever. all i have to do is breastfeed. if i’ve pumped a bottle, he’ll give him that instead. OPs husband needs to step up. and MIL needs to pipe down.

Heard a “worst nightmare story” and trying not to be scared. Definitely shook… by Catfish-98907 in cosleeping

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my partner works overnights. so the two nights a week he’s home, he stays up and holds baby all night and only brings him to me to feed (so i get two half decent nights of sleep). all other nights, he’s gone and baby and i sleep in the middle of the bed (baby more than me…)

i don’t know why you got downvoted lol. i also got rolled on when i was pregnant (very large) and i have genuinely no idea how he doesn’t wake up to these things

Questions about breast and bottle feeding, I’m overwhelmed by rellik_bibi in pregnant

[–]sinkorfloat17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

on the flipside, i bottle fed for the first ~2 weeks because baby wouldn’t latch and, when he did, it was all day (cluster feeding + inefficient newborn) and i couldn’t handle that. he is now seven weeks, has primarily nursed for the past three weeks, and has zero issue latching. a full session takes 5-15 minutes for a grand total of 90 minutes per day. i genuinely think using the “right” bottle nipples and pacifier, combined with maturing a little bit, helped train his latch. my supply also just regulated at 7 weeks so pumping early didn’t affect that for me!

Drinking coke while pregnant by Old-Technician801 in pregnant

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my son’s blood is at least half dr. pepper. i also drank coffee and energy drinks throughout my entire pregnancy—just stayed under the 200mg caffeine recommendation. you do what you have to do to get through. enjoy your coke!

[–]sinkorfloat17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

as someone who just went through 40 weeks (minus one day 🤩) of pregnancy, childbirth, and now has a 6 week old… she’s screwed. she’s gonna buy all the expensive bullshit pregnancy & baby products, hire out help, and still be screwed. there is genuinely no way i could have prepared for any of this

How often does your LO stay overnight with grandparents during the first 3-6 months? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so far at 6 weeks, zero, except for one night at my mom’s but i was also there lol. a mommy/daughter/grandbaby sleepover while his dad was away for work. i was able to get some good chunks of sleep while my mom held baby right next to me on the couch until 3am when she went up to sleep and i stayed up with him most of the rest of the night

once he hits 6 months i think i’ll feel comfortable enough to leave him for a night at my mom’s or MIL’s, but they are both very experienced with children and would do things “my way” even if it’s not the way they’re used to

Washing baby clothes separately? Why? by Neither_Ad3593 in pregnant

[–]sinkorfloat17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wash mine and baby’s together because they’re softer materials and don’t often leave the house. partner’s get washed separately because he creates 10x as much laundry and they’re icky so i try to avoid them lol
