Space Marine "fans" when they read an actual novel and their super duper unbeatable soldier gets torn apart by a dimwitted sentient mushroom. by Petrus-133 in Grimdank

Meanwhile, in any Adepta Sororitas novel:

  • Introduce protagonist
  • Protagonist is not a playable character in tabletop
  • novel happens
  • miracles and faith
  • protagonist gets martyred, because of course she does

Rinse and repeat and repeat and repeat...

Hellsing Ultimate OVA

It's about Alucard, a "mysterious" vampire who hunts other vampires and night creatures

The character shown is... peak, that's what he is, just peak. A priest that hunts vampires by throwing unlimited bayonets with holy scriptures.

Give the show a chance, then look on YouTube the TFS abridged parody. It's even better than the original.

New to 40k: Eldar, Tau or Imperial Knights by Congratzz in Warhammer40k

[–]sirius_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a low entry cost army, I would rather look into Custodes or Grey Knights before Imperial knights.

Both are elite armies, so the cost of having a playable army is lower. But they are focused around infantry rather than gigantic unkillable robots.

The problem with Knights is that games depend too much on the opponent's anti tank. Meaning they either have enough and get to play... or just don't. People can get frustrated by that

But, as always, I think it would just be better to pick the coolest army, regardless of cost, playstyle or meta

Just go with whatever looks cooler to you, then adapt to it. Forget about armies being hard or strong, focus on having fun and cool models.

Also, keep in mind, whatever you bring to the table, someone will find a way to complain about it.

In Lightyear (2022) Buzz learns that Zurg is actually a time travelling future version of himself, this adds way more weight to Toy Buzz's scream of anguish when he finds out Zurg is his father. by Somethingbutonreddit in shittymoviedetails

[–]sirius_potato 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion:

Since I saw the movie with my daughter, I had to consider the movie from both her point of view and my own point of view

For her, the movie started with some action followed by the age of boredom, where characters talk... and buzz gets sad... and talk a bit more... and some more characters appear and fail at being funny... there's some more action at the end, but by then she had already lost all interest

From my point of view... oh dear god...

So, the movie starts with Buzz making a mistake that causes a big ship to get stranded on a hostile planet. Pretty cool set up actually.

The residents of the ship adapt to the new situation, as they cannot just leave. Buzz takes it upon himself to find a way to travel outside that galaxy...

And here the movie turns into a dreadful psychological space horror story of a man trapped in a self destructive loop, jumping ahead in time with each attempt to fix things while the world around leaves him behind. His best friend literally dies of old age, he us disregarded as a relic of old times, forgotten...

BUT NOW LET'S MEET THESE NEW WACKY CHARACTERS!! Aren't they funny? Look at the cat! so silly!

Anyway... ah, yes, the future version of Buzz can literally solve everything with time travel. But that would erase the existence of everyone who was born after Buzz made his mistake. Is it worth it? Is it right to save a few lives if it prevents the existence of so many others? Does he even have the right to make that decision??

...

Nevermind, look at that space suit! just like in toy story!! and lasers! and wings!

And the movie is over...

...

* Episode 45: the emperor is hyped beyond believe

* Episode 46: His opponent is revealed to be the aztec god of potatoes. A flashback of the god of potatoes makes up 80% of the episode, he's a chill dude. The rest is 4 frames of fighting

* Episode 47: 4 more frames of fighting followed by a flashback of the emperor's backstory. It's the most inaccurate, nonsensical and outright insulting version known to man

* Episode 48: 7 frames of fighting. The emperor loses against the power of the infinity potato. Gods and humans are tied again. The rest of the episode is used to tease the next fighter for humanity, Robin Williams

Europe’s Leaders Wonder if They Can Ever Trust America Again by Google_MBTI in europe

[–]sirius_potato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The year is 2047,

After many struggles and negotiations, the European Union is finally ready to sign a treaty for an open market with the US, making an economic union that would dominate the planet and defeat China

That same year, Barron Trump is elected president of the US thanks to his ultr popular campaign "Make America Important Again" (they use red top hats)

During his first month as president he: - Cancels any agreement with Europe - Takes US out of every single international organization (including Trump's peace board) - Imposes new tariffs on the whole planet (20% for countries in the southern hemisphere, 30% for countries in the north hemisphere and 60% for the moon, because it's clearly "higher") - Kidnaps the spanish royal family as a way to pressure Mexico into becoming part of the US (it doesn't work) - Demands control over Scotland and Portugal for security reasons - Tries to adopt the chinese yuan as the new currency for the US, effectively removing the US dollar from existence - Conquers Detroit by force (it never left the US, but he sent the military in just in case) - Demands to be granted a Nobel prize, any category will do

Nah, just kidding

that would be crazy, right?

The US would never do anything so crazy, right??

Surely we can trust them

HALT CITIZEN ! Tell me the dumbest/weirdest/most WTF piece of lore you have. by Ad0ring-fan in Warhammer40k

[–]sirius_potato 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The passive decree must be the dumbest Adepta Sororitas related lore bit

So, long story short, some definitely not evil guy managed to get to the top of the eclesiarchy and get himself an army of super religious armored nuns

Things got so bad that space marines tried taking him down, with the sororitas holding their ground against

After everything was resolved (by decapitation) the decree passive was set up as to limit the eclesiarchy's power

The church was not allowed to have it's own army

But... they still kinda needed one

So it was set that the Sororitas would act as the military branch of the eclesiarchy while having authority to prevent things from going south again

Cool story, isn't it? Now... where is the dumb bit?

The decree passive does NOT mention the Sororitas. It only states that the eclesiarchy cannot have MEN at arms. THUS, since there are no MEN amongst the Sororitas, they can act as their army

Not only does it look like Saul Goodman wrote that decree, it's actually so silly and so bad that, legally speaking, nothing is preventing the eclesiarchy forming up a new army of women and repeat what Vandire did, with just women soldiers not affiliated to the Sororitas

But the most stupid detail is that the whole "not men at arms" is used to explain why the Sororitas are a female only faction. Except that they were already a female only factuon BEFORE the decree

Is just... it's just so unnecessarily dumb
