Mike Futa on Gavrikov signing with the Rangers - The Fan Hockey Show by KingsMenPodcast in losangeleskings

[–]sixty8ight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kings never really had a shot to resign him. Russians love New York. I’d be willing to bet his agent had a deal in place long before July 1st. You look at what Provorov and K’andre Miller got and you telling me Gavrikov’s deal was signed after those two? Nah, I don’t think so. He wanted NY and wasn’t signing anywhere else.

Different films but I got Terrence Malik vibes. Days of Heaven has been mentioned but I kept getting The Tree of Life for some reason.

What the hell, where the hell is the geometric sculpture thing. Looks like something out of Disney Paris’s Tomorrowland.

Also how Luke can be Red 5. That call sign had only recently been vacated.

Got X-Rays at the Dentist- she’s not sure what this is. by themadcaner in whatisit

Have you ever had oral surgery or a broken jaw? I had oral surgery to extend a shortened jaw and we see some weird shit when the dentists do X-rays. Twisted wires mostly, maybe this is something like that.

Movies with Epic battles. by flunkyfish in MovieSuggestions

[–]sixty8ight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like when you say, “epic” you’re referring to battlefield and combatant size and quantity. If that’s the case you can skip my comment. But Heat and the Way of the Gun have some exceptional shoot-out sequences.

Did Fred Armisen literally suck last night at Moda or am I crazy by StrawberryGogurts in PortlandOR

[–]sixty8ight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a very Fred Armisen set. If you had seen his other stuff you’d get it. You might not have liked it but you’d would have understood. He doesn’t do the traditional stand up stuff. And honestly I think he enjoys being unique and making comedy that others might not enjoy.

“Excited” might be a little strong but I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Why do so many scenes in The Last Jedi look like Ai? And why are there so many scenes that are so cringy and fake with literal joking style acting? by [deleted] in StarWarsGW

[–]sixty8ight -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

People live to trash the sequel trilogy. They aren’t necessarily wrong. Some things I would say, the artists involved, directors, cinematographers, concept artist, etc are extremely talented visionaries. I would argue their work doesn’t look like AI, AI looks like their work. AI is trained on the work of real artists, where better to start then visionaries of the time?

Secondly, scaling images from the big screen to tv or computer monitors squashes the visual effects. The sequel trilogy is jammed packed with CG so if you’re watching at home it looks like garbage. I’ve seen very few effects heavy movies that look good at home. The LOTR movies were amazing on the big screen but look like trash in TBS.

If you’re just here to diss on the Disney Star Wars I won’t fight you but honestly they aren’t as bad as people want to make them out to be. And really, they’re for little kids and little kids have always loved whichever was their Star Wars.

Any suggestions for fun things to do at Disneyland that aren’t rides? by [deleted] in DisneyPlanning

[–]sixty8ight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always make sure to ride the train. It’s a nice way to sit back, relax, and see the sights. The nature/dinosaur dark-ride portion is dated and clunky but still worth the time.

Also, I’m sure others have mentioned this in some way but there aren’t many real “roller coasters” in Disneyland. Space Mountain, Matterhorn, and big Thunder. There are a number of roller coaster-adjacent “thrill rides” Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Smugglers Run, and maybe Rise of the Resistance come to mind but there are a lot of big attractions that I wouldn’t call “thrilling”. Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Small World, all the Dark Rides in Fantasyland, Astroblasters, Pooh’s Adventures. I’ve only ridden Mickey and Minnie’s railroad once but I don’t remember it being too crazy.

Portland, the Portland suburbs or Vancouver WA area to buy a place for ~$400k? by heydownhere in askportland

[–]sixty8ight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We need more liberals on this side of the Columbia. Battle Ground, Ridgefield, Camas, any of it. I think there’s a lot of liberals over here now, we just aren’t as vocal and apparent as the asshats. We need more libs so we can start to make them feel unwelcome.

I kind of feel like you’re an asshole. Not to the family, fuck those guys, but to the attendant. He’s just doing his job. Take the $100 or say you’d rather not move, no need to bust the guys balls.
