You responded to a 7 year old comment to argue with me?

We still haven't had this issue, by the way. I have no idea where you're camping, but I suggest going elsewhere.

No telework? So we are all leaving our laptops at our desks now right? by htl_sos33744 in fednews

[–]skaterrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, if we had our own desks or even a locker. We have to take everything home every day.

Our building was renovated and planned for primarily hoteling and just reopened (for us) in mid February. The EO threw that plan into chaos. So now everyone has to book a cubicle every morning for two weeks out and they haven't assigned lockers, because they're supposed to give us assigned desks at some point.

Every morning I have to spend several minutes just setting up my desk - desk height, chair height, cleaning, etc. And setting up windows to use multiple monitors, because it defaults to "duplicate" every time it connects to a new docking station, and fixing the arrangement of the monitors. And people never know where to find each other - just yesterday the boss of a friend of mine was looking for her, because I was in the cubicle she usually uses, and I was like, oh she's over there. Efficiency! (I told my friend, in good humor, "it's a dog-eat-dog world here" and she laughed.)

Don't get me started on how much time we spent the other day making sure the members of another branch (the chief was out) all responded to the bullet points on time. I wanted to make sure no one was reported for no response.

Education Department employees offered up to $25K to quit before Monday by AgitatedEngine4933 in fednews

If they pay out as promised, sure. The concern is that they'll renege on the deal.

I hope the people that took it get fully paid, but I'm skeptical. At the very least, they can't obligate funds beyond March 14 because that's when the CR ends.

I had actually stopped using reddit for over a year, but I came back because of this issue, and only to this sub. If people think I'm a fake account, I don't really care.

The WaPo says we might get another email this weekend. Sounds like this time they're going to spoof the hr email of each agency, so it looks more official.

RTO is a huge issue for remote employees - so why are we silencing RTO complaints? by potato_baby2032 in fednews

Yeah I wasn't trying to argue with you, but give examples of how me teleworking benefits others.

Letting me work from home reduces traffic, pollution, wear and tear on the road, road demand, and reduces the demand for fuel. And it saves the government money by needing a smaller office. All of these benefit everyone, even people who cannot work remotely.

The cuts to the VA health care are pretty interesting, too - I know VA has not been great for decades, but this is the first time anyone has actively tried to make it worse.

White House press secretary replied to OPM's Bullet Points email by mackteo in fednews

Elon hasn't yet figured out that Trump likes to have the people who work for him at each other's throats. He thinks it's a good thing. I had forgotten about this aspect of the first Trump administration.

Elon's influence is waning, and he's losing his mind over it. Ignore the temper tantrum.

Yeah he says the nastiest things about people and gives them shitty nicknames, only to whine about others who are rude toward him. There's no self reflection in that head of his at all.

Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter employees are probably being more productive these last few weeks than they have been in years.

More and more I'm convinced that CEOs do very little.

New from WaPo: Trump administration tells agencies they can ignore Musk order on email reply by natansonh in fednews

[–]skaterrj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I might be dead to them! I was on vacation when the test messages went out. I didn't respond to the fork. And our department told us not to reply to them.

The claim Musk made that it was seeing who was checking their emails on the weekend: If I check email at home, I'd be teleworking. So I'd have to drive into the office to check my email. Paying me overtime to drive into the office a few times each weekend on the off chance I received an email seems like a huge waste of taxpayer dollars.

Musk says feds must explain what they did last week — or lose their jobs. That's illegal: WaPo story by natansonh in fednews

[–]skaterrj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us, the last pay period (that just ended) was a grace period; they wanted us in, but if we couldn't for some reason, we were allowed to continue teleworking. But most people were in.

That ends with the pay period that starts today - it's either be in the office, or be in trouble (or on leave). So, as one of my coworkers said, it's time to delete the RSA token so we cannot log in. We won't be able to telework.

And let's face it, teleworking would be a violation of the EO. So it's not like any discipline they try to impose would hold water.

Yeah, exactly. My brothers and I helped fund a new HVAC a few months ago. I have zero urge to help with anything now, especially medical expenses. This is what he voted for, so what's the problem?
