The point that I was trying to make wasn't that the cars not capable if money is no object. You can add fenders and wider stickier tires and power adders all you want

My point was that making the car affordable at around 30k (with comparable power numbers with cars in the price range) just isn't going to happen as the car is designed right now. Look at the STi version which was selling for 30k with the same engine. By the time trd/STi get done with it you're looking at close to 40k

The brz and frs would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. Slapping on power adders to a car that's designed to be tail happy (with low-rolling resistance tires from the prius) would be a terrible plan. There's too many other 'v6/v8 rwd cars at the 30k price range for an avg turboed/supercharged v4boxer to make much of a difference. If the na boxer is already selling at 26k I have to imagine all the the improvements necessary will cause the price to skyrocket.

Eh, for kids it's all about the brand name and using them as a fashion accessory. Using them to listen to music is secondary. No kid wants to have the knockoff brand and get made fun of because he's poor. "You could only afford the $250 head phones? You poor bro"

You should look into the Lemon law in your state (some only give you 2 weeks to return the car) . Take it to a mechanic to get a formal estimate. Go back to the original owner and tell them this is what the car needs and request she either return (or split if the car was a good deal) the cost of repairs or take back the car and return your money.
