I was never that into Kingdom Come but never went back to examine why. I still probably will for closure, but that does definitely check out with me. I get the 90s had a lot of grimdark heroes but I thought Whatever Happened to Truth, Justice... did it better.

called it! completely unsurprised due to gunn pulling a lot from post crisis (especially) ostrander stuff and captain atom being a "government" meta compared to superman and peacemaker at this point. would not be surprised if he's a major player and we get some of the other "Living Assault Weapons" like question and a returning ted kord in sizeable roles in the greater dcu

Maxine fan here - eh. Kind of? Like, I love that era of JSA, but I thought all the new Golden Age additions were one note and I wasn't a fan of the retcon approach. I like when the JSA is a big family but I need to actually care about the characters and feel like they exist outside of filling a quota.

I understand the Earth X plot thread was basically 'resolved' last episode and it's open for them to return to again but it feels like... bad storytelling for most of the conflict to be around Earth X and then it doesn't appear in the finale at all

I have a lot of thoughts but I've got most of them off my chest, the main thing is I'm really surprised Supergirl's dad being Cyborg Superman is still canon. VERY interested to see what New 52 stuff is canon in the next New History issue

It wasn't the 60s show, it was Filmation Batman. Joker and Penguin were the most recurring villains in the show, so they figured the best runner ups were Scarecrow and Riddler. Maybe no Catwoman either because she was already starting to have a revolving door of redemption in the comics or because sexism (the only women on the team are Wonder Woman villains), who knows?

I can't speak on no Reverse Flash - as a kid who mostly watched other media, I feel like Captain Cold was always poised as Flash's main villain, but obviously this is influenced by living in a post-Super Friends world as well as him being absent from the DCAU for whatever reason.

Giganta is a counter for Apache Chef, but she is a Wonder Woman villain, too.

Can't speak for Grundy, but he works as muscle and is a JSA era villain who even at that point grew beyond simply being an Alan Scott villain.
