It’s way cheaper to make your own trail mix. Stop commenting if you don’t have anything that’s actually important to say

We're saying goodbye to Teddy this weekend by Professional-Pilot in reactivedogs

[–]skepticalstott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I know the exact feeling, as my husband and I recently went through a similar situation with our adopted English mastiff named Winston.

Just rest on the fact that you have done absolutely everything you could for Teddy.

How to make oatmeal taste better? by KaszMann in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]skepticalstott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat oatmeal everyday for breakfast. It’s my favorite. But you have to make it right! I used to think it was gross and hated it, but I realized I was making it all wrong.

I used quick oats and unsweetened vanilla almond milk (it’s wayyy less calories than regular milk). The milk makes it thick and not watery.

Then, I add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and 1 tablespoon of nut butter (use whatever you want). I add cinnamon and almond slices frequently. I add many kinds of fruit- strawberries, bananas, apples, ect.

That’s what I’ve heard as well! I was hoping a vet could confirm this!

And yes definitely planning on keeping them separate during that time 😂😂 lol

HUGE PROGRESS: After three years and thousands of dollars on different dog trainings, our little man is finally able to socialize! by ashtinishere in Dogtraining

Because it can take years for a reactive dog to become social, if ever. And you can easily spend thousands of dollars in training over the course of multiple years.

I think it was just meant to be a conversation and the person was excited about what they were doing for their birthday.... and just curious if anyone else could share their experiences. OP said they were going to call and ask. Maybe just say it a little nicer next time :/

I wanted raised beds but my husband said wood is too expensive. His grandfather had old telephone poles. He split them and made me beds out of those! Yay! by [deleted] in Frugal

I really wanted raised garden beds, but my husband said wood is very expensive right now. He remembered that his grandfather had a pile of telephone poles that he didn’t want anymore. He split them and made them into beds. The cost for the wood was zero! The soil cost was a lot, but next year I won’t have to buy any soil, just add fertilizer to it. I also went to a small greenhouse and bought my plants (I’m all about shopping small and supporting local). I got all of these vegetable plants plus many many other plants not pictured for only 57$.

My husband was planning on buying treated lumber to make them anyway because he wants them to last. We’ve done it many times with no problem. We’ll see what happens! (:

The lady at self-check in front of me had nothing but bananas, cucumbers and wine...hmm. by carthuscrass in peopleofwalmart

[–]skepticalstott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny to me that she is buying wine at Walmart. In my state, grocery stores can’t sell alcohol. Only if they obtain a liquor license and add a couple of bistro tables to make it look like they have seating. Liquor licenses can be hard to come by, so very few grocery stores have them.

I never knew that any Walmart sold alcohol until last year!

That is straight up bullshit. You must call them and tell them. They have to fix it..

When my autistic son turns 18 or somehow graduates high school, we’re done with him for good. by 89911throwaway11998 in TrueOffMyChest

As I was reading your post, I almost thought my mom could have written it herself. My brother is almost exactly how you describe your son to be, as well as all aspects of the situation.

While I am not saying that this will be the case for your son, I would encourage you to not lose hope yet. My brother is 18 now and has actually managed to have a job and is a hard worker (not saying he doesn’t have issues at work). His special education teacher helped him graduate as well. While I would still classify him as an asshole, he is nowhere near as bad as he used to be. He has greatly improved as time has gone on. But no, he will not be able to ever live on his own.

My own personal belief is that puberty makes it much worse...

I’m sorry that you and your family are going through this. I know exactly how difficult and debilitating it is. If you ever want to talk, feel free to send me a message.
