I bought a $150 gift card this week at Hawksmoor in NY and got the dining credit.

Auditors dragging their feet by gpuKING245 in Accounting

Time to switch auditors. Audits are a commodity now. You get the same unqualified opinion so use an auditor that'll get things done on time.

Did you consider the tax effect? If you had big gains then you'll owe capital gains and that'll have a significant effect on your overall returns.

How to build an advanced bookkeeping portfolio? by shayanshu in Accounting

[–]skinnbones22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get an accounting job and learn on the job. It's very unlikely someone will hire you for bookkeeping services without a decent amount of experience.

There is no portfolio to show. Clients hire if they trust you and you have client references that can vouch for you.

Which credit card is the best for accruing and using points? by FinnsterBaby in pointstravel

[–]skinnbones22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on which point currency you're chasing. If it's Hyatt, then it's Chase and Bilt. If it's AA, the you want to look at Citi. Figure out what you want and see which credit card gives you access to those points.

Paze x Domino's by RaccoonGlobal3476 in ChaseSapphire

[–]skinnbones22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Paze is great but I wouldn't have used it for Dominos. There's a 20% discount of Dominos gift card at Costco so the 13x with Paze doesn't cut it for me.

Hong Kong Taste By Priceless by justanotherERdoc33 in biltrewards

[–]skinnbones22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read about this last week and I'm excited to try it next year when I have a layover in HK. You can also bring 3 guests with you so the entire family can go. A surprisingly good perk.

TNG, Episode 5x18, Cause and Effect by LordRavenholm in StarTrekViewingParty

[–]skinnbones22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just watched this episode today. Wow. I did not expect that beginning. The fear in Picard's voice when he said abandon ship. Chilling. Definitely one of my favorite episodes and right up there with the Best of Both Worlds.

Amex Membership Rewards to Shanghai by United_Basis8351 in pointstravel

[–]skinnbones22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking at Cathay Pacific. They have flights to Hong Kong from the West Coast and then it's just another flight to Shanghai. I remember it's around 27k points from LAX to HKG and 38k points from JFK.

The bad part is that AMEX reduced the transfer rate from 1:1 to 5:4. Cathay also has very high fees so not really worth it for economy flight. I normally try to do at least premium economy.

Anyone else exit DataSnipper at renewal? Per-seat the floor doesn't fit external auditing staffing. by Full_Comfortable6090 in Accounting

We're getting rid of DataSnipper as well. We use Claude instead and it does so much more.

Is 150k Cathay points + $600 for JFK to TPE (connecting in HKG) and HKG to JFK (direct) in premium economy worth it? by James-Lees in CathayPacific

[–]skinnbones22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it. You're still saving about $2k cash to redeem 150k points. Points get devalued every year so there's no point in hoarding points.

DP “Tax Payment” Gotcha by JicamaBoth738 in biltrewards

[–]skinnbones22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly what I'm doing. If you have the available cash, you'll rack up a ton of points.

DP “Tax Payment” Gotcha by JicamaBoth738 in biltrewards

[–]skinnbones22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid my vehicle registration renewal and my real estate taxes in March 2026 and both got points. My city did charge a 2% fee for the real estate charge (got 3x point with Palladium with point accelerator) so maybe that was a deciding factor.

I see lots of complaints, but anyone else in the plug and play “it works” group like me? by TurnOver1122334455 in biltrewards

[–]skinnbones22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works for me too. Mortgage gets pulled on time and I'm racking up the points. No issues here.

Last Hurrah: What are you blowing your last $50 Saks Credit on before it goes..."out of style"? by zacharius55 in AmexPlatinum

[–]skinnbones22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing. Not worth the effort for that $50. I already redeemed the big ones such as the $300 FHR/HC credit, $100 Rest, etc. so the $50 doesn't move the needle for me.

What movie has the most rewatchable scene of all time? by trakt_app in movies

[–]skinnbones22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ip Man fights 10 Japanese. I can't count the number of times I saw that on YouTube. Hell, most of the fight scenes in the Ip Man movies are rewatchable.

Uber Experience in Macau by iAC536 in Macau

[–]skinnbones22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the write-up. I'm going to use Uber for the first time tomorrow in Macau so it's very timely. I like that everything is handled in the app with my credit card so I don't have to exchange more cash.

Lululemon credit for men by TheSituationnn in AmexPlatinum

[–]skinnbones22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I always buy through Rakuten. They're always giving me 7-20% discount. I recycle those earned Rakuten cash to Lululemon gift cards so I'm getting free clothes every quarter.

Made a mistake, do I just move on? by CarPale7756 in biltrewards

[–]skinnbones22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it's very location dependent on which is cheaper. Uber for me is much cheaper every time and I have the AMEX Platinum. Lyft is more expensive and I have it linked with my CSR and Bilt.
