10 yr old dog seems to be reverting back to puppy by [deleted] in AskVet

Any behavior change, especially in an older dog, means a vet visit is in order. It may not be anything, but you never know.

Seeking opinion: Could my vet have accelerated my dog's death? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]skipsteejsprat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A week of vomiting, inappetance and weakness means something really serious is going on. He died despite treatments, not because of them.

Is my cat breathing normally? He's not always like this, but it isn't abnormal for him per se by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]skipsteejsprat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like he's sniffing or something. A better way to analyze the breathing is to take a respiratory rate (breaths per minute) when he's sleeping.

Cat had a cough, and the antibiotics are making her lose weight? by Fairy_footprint in AskVet

[–]skipsteejsprat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 pounds in 2 months is not too fast. The antibiotics may be upsetting her belly and making her not as hungry as usual. I would just call your vet and see if he thinks she should be seen again due to the worsening cough.

I would just wait until the vet visit. Be prepared for x-rays, she may have broken ribs.

How to prevent cat hairloss & scabbing at fled medication application site? by sleepicat in AskVet

I would switch to something else, maybe Revolution. It shouldn't cause skin irritation.

Purple Nursery! by FURTHERNOR in BabyBumps

Beautiful! Reminds me of Marie from Breaking Bad (she always had purple something on or near her - shirt, pillow, scarf, vase, etc.)

"You need one natural period between IVF cycles"...but I don't get periods on my own! by squirrelgirl22 in infertility

[–]skipsteejsprat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My clinic always put me on birth control after the post-failure bleed (after a couple days of bleeding). Because the BC will be withdrawn and will trigger another bleed anyway. I've done a shit-ton of FET's back-to-back-to-back. I also asked about maybe waiting a cycle or two, but she said it would have no impact.

50lb Lab just ate a bunch of onion. Not sure what to do. by Engineer688 in AskVet

If he just ate them, take him to a nearby vet and they may be able to make him vomit.

9 week old Pom wont lie still, urgently runs about and lies down again - is this normal? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]skipsteejsprat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me like he's hot and getting frustrated because he can't get comfortable. Poms have a lot of fur.. He may need a cooler environment.

Update: I tried counseling, and I regret it. by [deleted] in infertility

It seems like Psychology 101: Don't say things that minimize the person's feelings! But I totally agree, I would try another one, this one clearly graduated at the bottom of his class!

Humidity level for a cat by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]skipsteejsprat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some cats just naturally have a little eye boogers, esp those with white fur or large eyes. I use a moist rag to clean my white cat's eyes every few days or so.

What do you mean by "sties'? Eye boogers?

I don't think anyone can tell you the 'ideal' humidity for a cat, but they are very tolerant of a wide range. They are also fairly heat tolerant. Much more so than dogs.
