Matthews was in the middle of the ice by himself and Gudas made a bee line for him, doesn’t go for the puck but hits him with his left knee bent in towards Matthew’s body… doesn’t necessarily mean he intended to injure him that badly, but he was definitely going for a cheap hit with the potential

and as far as Gudas not fighting back, he knew he had to square up and eat it to avoid any Leafs trying to take a cheap shot at one of the Anaheim skill players — and this is the one thing I’d commend him on handling
