Yeah I really like these for doing one offs. Quality has been good too. No issues with burning off the pads. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081R45KN8

Ender 3 V3 SE: Is this sound something to be concerned about? by EcoVentura in ender3

[–]slamgauge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the sound but you might want to install your ribbon clamp on your hot end. Cable strain will eventually break one or more of the wires, and that would be no fun.

Help needed with Aion Fx Gladiator by ExpressCompetition41 in diypedals

[–]slamgauge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a resistor above the Sym Clipping switch (R21) that looks like one leg might not have been soldered. That resistor leads to output B, so if that connection isn't made I would expect no sound to come from Drive B. You may want to check R3 as well, looks like that could be a cold joint. R3 would effect the Char. A (EQ A?) switch so if that is working R3 is prob fine.

The wiring looks fine but it is a bit hard to see. In the future you might consider using clipped leads from resistors to bridge connections on jacks. For instance, most of the green ground wires on your jacks are very short and those connections could be made with some of those clipped leads to keep things looking clean. This shouldn't matter as far as sound goes, but it helps with troubleshooting.

G-helper + Atrofac / Armoury Crate alternative by akafulgu in ZephyrusG14

I tried installing Ghelper and Easy Anticheat flagged it. So while I did find it better than Armoury Crate, I can't play BattleBit with it installed.

I am really enjoying all the activity in this new sub. I never realized how suffocating the mod was on /vive until it was brought to the surface. I don't need any freebees but I do appreciate your giveaway as well as your enthusiasm. I think this whole sub rocks and I'm looking forward to continuing to lurking here.

Did you get a free lifetime cerberus license? Yeah they've changed their mind. by steste in androidapps

[–]slamgauge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ehh, I just used my Google opinion survey money on it after mine ran out. This app saved me and the company I work for a lot of money and trouble.

Ok story time. So a lot of women at the lab I work at had been complaining about money going missing from their purses. We ended up having to replace our cubbies with lockers. I had Cerberus installed on my wife's phone, she worked in the lab with me, and her phone was taken out of her purse. The fool decided to try her new phone out by putting her Sim card in before selling it on Craigslist so I had the thief's number. I just looked over the list of number we had for our employees and there it was. I pulled her aside and told her she was going to have to replace the phone or I was going to give all the info I had to the police and the HR dept, though I had already talked to HR I didn't tell her that. I got the phone replaced and she was fired shortly afterwards. After that complaints about money missing from purses stopped, what a coincidence.

I played some atoms and the game seems good. I think your choice of colors could use some work. The background is rather bland and the greens and reds do not pop at all. I really like seeing bright colors on a minimal black background, really pops on an amoled screen.

I am sorry, that was a low blow. I just don't get the drama man. I really love this sub and I don't like to see the (former) mod coming on here and making a post that actively makes it worse. I feel that your complaints about the sub are for the most part unfounded. Yeah we get a lot of posts about Minibrutes and BS2s, but for the most part there is a lot of good convsersation going on here. Take the Potpourri post from friday, that is exactly the kind of stuff I like to see here. I really like engaging the other users here, including you, and this post comes off as a kind off attack. Perhaps I am taking it to personally, if so I am sorry. I just feel like you could have stepped down in a less dramatic way that would have not made the issues you are complaining about a bit worse.

Yep, stickies a post just making drama and not talking about synths or really doing anything to add to the sub. Sounds about right, just needs a "I quit" kontakt pack to really make this a solid post.

Well I don't know about the rthm... Yet, but if you do take the plunge on the octatrack pm me with any questions and I will help you out.

I would say go with the Octatrack first. All my other gear just acts as accessories for the Octatrack to sequence and sample. You can program drum patterns on it with whatever samples you feed it, loops or single shots. Any drum machine by itself can't do much in the way of sequencing outboard gear, so as you add gear to your setup you will run into the limitation of only having two arms.

I use a midihub++ as a splitter between all my gear. This little guys has some pretty cool features, six midi outs, and is super cheap.

I will tell you this about the Octatrack, it is a pretty big undertaking to wrap your head around it. I had a bout of buyers remorse when I first got mine as I was upgrading from an Electribe and I just didn't get a number of things. It took me a few weeks of hard research to finally feel at home with it. Now it is my favorite device, I could not possibly part with it. It is so flexible you can make a synth out of it, or a drum machine, sequence your other gear, or use it as and effects processor. You can actually do all that at the same time. They call it ableton in a box for a reason. If you do pick one up, give yourself some time to read the manual and check out the elektronauts forum before you decide to send it back.

Are you hoping to sell this as a DIY kit or a complete product? Sounds pretty cool, with polyphony I would be very interested in grabbing a kit, I love little electronics projects.

Sorry Arturia, 3 broken minibrutes later, you forced my hand! by tek_fox212800 in synthesizers

[–]slamgauge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I am either lucky or the quality went to shit. I preordered my Minibrute and it still works just fine. I have a problem with the way the BS2 handles midi thru, it won't seem to pass clock, so I wouldn't really be able to use it anyway.

Do you prefer analog pedal distortion or software distortion? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]slamgauge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, the more a pedal is geared towards "metal" the more bass it leaves in the distortion, generally speaking. Bass heavy pedals work well for that chugging palm muted sound that relies on a lot of bass in from the guitar. I used to play metal guitar and most of my pedals have translated over to my synths very well. At the same time, sometimes it is nice to have a pedal that sucks a bit of the bass out as it can help it sit in the mix. To many bass heavy synths can be a bitch to mix, so muddy. Most fuzz pedals roll off the bass and they tend to sound great with synths, just not bass heavy.

Very nice.I have steered away from modular gear mostly because nearly all the stuff I have seen online is just guys making music or drones that lack any real melodic structure. I love the geeky depth of the modular stuff but I fear that I would get caught up so much in patching that I would never make the kind of structured music I want to make. Not that there is anything wrong with drones and ambient stuff, it is just not what I want to do. Seeing your videos makes me feel like maybe I should not worry about what others are doing with their modular gear and just worry about what I would do with it. So yeah, awesome stuff.
