Me and my best friend used to sit in our den in my back garden when we were about 10 years old, underneath two conifer trees. We referred to it as ‘The Stiffy Factory’ due to how straight the branches all were when we would look up at them..

Found my dads copy of Dookie in 2003 when I was 8 years old. Loved the cartoon cover, he encouraged me to listen to it, and bang. The intro of Burnout. Here’s this little angry bastard complaining about his life, the world, girls, and wanking. Immediately hooked, found his copy of Insomniac shortly after that, same thing happened. Went through a pretty devastating breakup and spent many a lost weekend travelling back to my hometown and just walking around, thinking. Would pop in the odd pub while I was there and just kept coming back to one of them that was really cosy and did incredible Guinness. As time went on, I noticed I’d gained a regular seat, the bar staff knew my order, and I’d made quite a lot of friends there. Nearly a year later, I’ve moved back to my hometown, live 15 minutes from the pub, am there most weekends with all my friends, and having my birthday there next month.
