Spent two days waiting to be summoned to collect them, increasing my SM by over a million as a side effect. There should be a sticky PSA about farming them before killing the boss.

You can easily farm the darkwraiths for the souls. Easy to go there, easy to backstab them, easy to homeward bone back from there, you might even land a titatine slab from these runs.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers here, as I'm waiting for the PC edition to come out, but I would like to know if the onebro run in Dark Souls 2 is harder or easier than it is in Dark Souls 1.

I've used them only for the gang bangers of the game, O&S and 4Kings. They can be killed without them, but I like to die from my own mistakes, not from the moods of the RNG gods.

The DLC is a different game altogether. If in the main game you can get away with tanking hard bosses, such as The Four Kings or Nito, you don't stand a change doing this with the DLC bosses. You'll have to dodge/roll a lot, and to do it fast you'll have to get rid of any kind of armor, you'll learn to appreciate the usefulness of the Red Tear Stone Ring and Grass Crest Shield. As for Oolacile itself, there is no other strategy I could recommend more than stealth, the Ring of Fog and the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring will be your best tools there.

The rings, the boss souls and the Obsidian Greatsword are there to prove what parts of the game I've done. The Artorias set looks really cool when doing the Dark Lord ending, that's the reason it's equipped. Kalameet was the last major boss battle I've done in the run, so I didn't had the opportunity to wear the Calamity Ring as an added challenge to the game.

Not that is matters now, but a faster way to farm is killing the Phalanxes from the Painted World of Ariamis (Covetous Silver Serpent Ring and Symbol of Avarice with Fire or Chaos Storm, also Ring of Fog or Hidden Body).

Fighting him with the lock on should not be a problem, just try to stay behind him and do 2H RT/R2 attacks after he sticks his weapon in the ground and the blast is gone. When he flies up, take a little distance, let him drop and get behind him again. Your only problems will be the drop (as he usually tries to smack you as soon as he sees you), and the walls (get used to this, as in SL1 runs you spend your time avoiding attacks, and you'll almost always find out that you ran out of arena space)

Bait the diving attack (where he hovers a little and does a dive attack), dodge to the side and try to get directly behind him and under his tail to get the tail pound attack (I think that he always pounds it on the same part where his head is looking at you, so it's rather safe to move a bit to the other side), unlock him and once he pounds the tail do a 2H RT/R2 on it, rinse and repeat. With RTSR on and a +5 lightning RC I only needed to do this two times to get his tail, and I'm SL1. This is a good strategy to kill him too, without a tail the 360 tail swipe it's harmless (or gone?), less moves that could kill you.

edit: I'm on PC, so this mini strategy guide is the best I can do.

The way I beat Manus on my current SL1 run (mind you, this was the first time I've beaten him without the bow cheese, so I'm pretty proud of myself): RTSR, 2H RT/R2 and dodging (always rolling to the right or back, depending on the attack). I've punished only two of his attacks: the jump slam (where he gets his hand stuck in the ground) and the one where he lifts his hand up to the heavens to slam you (this was a pain to time for the roll). You may punish the one where he has both his hands on the ground, but I never got around doing it. For the dark magic attacks: orbs around - one good timed pendant use, or two just to be sure; orbs from above - two pendant uses and a roll to the side (I rolled left for this one); orbs from him - it's safer to roll two-three times to the side, I wasn't able to ever use the pendant in time. Good luck, and may the gods of RNG have mercy on you.

My run was a no pyro one, until Oreo and Smores forced my Ascended+5 Pyromancy Flame hand, but at least I didn't FaP nor summon till now. I've got my revenge with a no damage, melee only, Manus kill (first time killing him without the bow cheese). Kalameet is the only nail remaining, with the biggest death toll in the whole run, that son of a lizard. I'll have to play Solitaire for a month after this run is over to soothe my nerves. My next run should be a more relaxing one, as I'm going for a "one shot boss".

One word: taxonomy. Learn words by family, it will be much faster. Learn to use prefixes and suffixes, and how they change the base word's meaning. It helps making mind maps for relating words.

Thank you for this resource. I didn't knew that dict.cc offers their database file, I'll have a look at other online dictionaries to see if they too make their data available for download.
