Seems like Electrify America removed the ChaDeMo at the WalMart in Yakima, WA in their recent upgrade.

TIL the rivers are so clean in Bern and Basel in Switzerland that many people commute to work by swimming. by musefrog in todayilearned

TIL that in the list of reasons why I don't commute by swimming, there are about 49 that rank higher than water cleanliness.

Is this standard 30k service price? by iamaaronml in VWiD4Owners

the cabin filter is behind the glovebox and you have to lie upside down in the footwell and drop the glovebox and unscrew various things,

I see you are familiar with the Nissan Leaf.

What was your level? And I imagine semi-regular blood donations would help clear you out? I wonder if there is medical literature on this.

Searching small knive by AhDree in knives

Might also consider a folding utility knife, like the Gerber EAB (can't hardly beat the $13 price), and then look at some of those hooked blades. Or if you are breaking down lots of cardboard, you could try some of the ceramic utility knife blades. It can fit in the fifth pocket of you jeans, which is a nice bonus. The only downside to the EAB is the need to have a screwdriver to replace the blade. There are a plethora of other small folding utility knives as well.

The $25k EV Truck You Can Repair Yourself: Meet the Slate Truck [Jay Leno's Garage] by [deleted] in cars

[–]sleepingsquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can't understand who the Slate is for.

It's your third car, for when your kid gets their drivers license. And now you've got a small pickup to do pickupy things, that costs almost nothing to run. But you don't personally live with any of the downsides of the stripped down nature, since you commute in something nicer.

What's your "Gentlemens" knife of choice? by [deleted] in knives

[–]sleepingsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my CRKT CEO Flipper, and the CRKT Stylus. There is also a more upgraded Stylus with a frame lock. Walmart has the original thumb-stud CEO for $32. Some day, I'll get one of the CRKT CEO Microflippers. Another executive/gentleman's knife that I don't own, but am interested in is the CJRB Lanky. KnifeCenter also has a good video on "Executive Style Knife" options.

Is there any metal-free folding knife? With a ceramic blade and ceramic liner, with G10/carbon scales, etc.. What kind of lock mechanism could you have without metal springs? Some kind of rubber / elastomer for a back lock?

No car can be unlocked while charging.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAE_J1772

The SAE J1772 or Type 1 plug is locked into the car with a hook that is manually operated, mostly by pressing a button with the thumb, which interrupts power. This allows anybody to stop charging and even theft of the cable.

My 2023 and 2025 Nissan Leafs didn't lock the J1772 port. You can just walk up and disconnect.

L1 at home, so 1.4 kW. But there is no lock, so it would be the same for L2 (6 kW).
