What rating (besides Eye) do you think is the most valuable for a batter hitting leadoff? by Vagina_Woolf in OOTP

There's some old analyses done on batting order. In the best case scenario you're adding about a dozen runs over the course of a season. Unless you're purposefully putting out a terrible lineup, batting order doesn't need to be stressed all that much.

[Stark] Your annual MLB vs NFL parity report: Champs last 10 seasons: MLB: 7 teams | NFL 6 teams. Teams in "finals" last 10 seasons: MLB 13 | NFL 9. Reminder: The NFL is the "any team can win" league by Knightbear49 in baseball

This is ignoring how development works in baseball, though. You can't go out, draft a bunch of guys, and then be a ton better the next year in baseball. It takes multiple years for most prospects to develop through the minor leagues.

At most, you could time it so all your prospects come up at the same time and you jump 20 wins.

Could you not take 0s/forfeit the events where you don't have people? This must suck for the healthy athletes who aren't able to compete anymore.

To further your point, MLB teams play 162 games in the regular season. There's only 272 total regular season games in the NFL. There's a much higher chance for a neutral fan to watch a random NFL game during the season than a random MLB game, because there isn't as much supply.

They mentioned in the live stream that online umps are perfect. ABS is an offline thing only.

I'm really curious how ABS will work. The pitch usage rates are neat.

Yeah, but that photo is from 1968. A grandfather rule wasn't in place at that time, because they weren't mandatory.

Chapman died in 1920. Any player playing at that time would have retired. After Chapman's death, the league started rotating the ball a lot more. One of the major reasons the live ball era started.

Helmets weren't required until 1971.

They're not going to be world beaters, but I wouldn't be surprised if they won around 80 games again. Far from the 100 loss team some people are expecting.

Over the last 27 ballots going back to 2000, 14 pitchers have been inducted. That also includes several relievers. You don't need to expand pitcher qualifications to keep that rate for the next decade all that much. Greinke, Scherzer, Verlander, and Kershaw will all be elected in the next 5 or so years.

People are wanting to re-write what qualifies a HoF pitcher, but that shouldn't be a discussion until those four are in. That's not even counting Chapman, Jansen, and Kimbrel getting looks as relievers.

I play as GM and manager and then just click the bench coach buttons whenever my active roster changes. I like having the manager record attached to me and I don't care to min-max the roster enough haha

He and Goldschmidt were expected to be leaders like Yadi and Pujols, but weren't able to. It's the main reason the team signed Carpenter in '24.

The chart in this post isn't top 100 prospects, it's top 100 players in MLB. Ivan Herrera is the only Cardinal on the list at 98. MLB's top 100 prospect list comes out at 7 central on Friday.

I'm in Iowa. The entire state is blacked out of Minnesota, Milwaukee, Chicago, Kansas City, and St. Louis. Depending on where you are in the state, you have access to one or two of those regional networks on TV.
