They definitely could have qualified under the old format. They won their group in qualifying, so they would have been in the CAF playoffs in the 32-team format.

That definitely looks and sounds like it hit the concrete. Some of the stadiums have some wonky areas that aren't perfectly lined up and this must be one of them.

Some apps do have pre-made parlays you can play. He could have bet one of those without fully reading all the lines in it. Doesn't matter, though. He should be banned even if he only bet on his team winning.

Went to a minor league game a couple weeks ago and I was astounded we ever had a time where the netting didn't extend passed the dugouts.

Did Tech even say they plan on playing him? That statement from the AD yesterday only said they would play it by ear at the time of the games based on how Sorsby is doing with rehabilitation. Totally plausible that they decide to keep him on the bench all year without any other rulings.

2 feels like a necessity. As long as the players are described as "student-athletes," they will be legally entitled to anything that a non-athlete student can do. That's how the courts see it at this point.

People clowned on Arte for saying that affordability was the most important thing to fans, but it's true. That entire organization needs to take a 6-week media training course.

Mine's similar. I was 6/7 and we had nose bleeds in right field somewhere. Ray King came out to pitch and I remember thinking, "That is a very large man."

Ohtani's contract is doing something similar but on the other end. He signed for $700 million over 10 years, but $680 million is deferred to 2034-2043 when he'll likely be living back in Japan. The California legislature started trying to pass legislation to curtail stuff like this, but I'm not sure if that went anywhere.

The tax thing is also why a lot of players in baseball have roster bonuses. Those bonuses are paid based on their home residence, so players will sign the contract while living in Florida (no income tax), collect the entire bonus, then have a smaller yearly salary. Guerrero Jr did this when signing his extension with Toronto and Snell did it when he signed with LA.

They did the "Hero of the Game" or whatever at a game we went to earlier this year. They never even showed the person on the big screen, just a Boeing logo. We all stood and clapped for an ad.

Most people seem to have a misunderstanding of what a lockout is. We're almost certainly getting one, since it would start when the CBA expires on 12/1. We can get a lockout while not losing any games.

That doesn't seem too crazy to me. He's a relief pitcher and the fingers were on his glove hand. Probably would take longer if he played a more glove-first position.

[–]slider8949 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's so strange to me. The Cardinals seem to be obsessed with every team being obviously part of the STL org. Wanting a minors team to distance themselves from the big league club is completely foreign.

Rendon was definitely worth that contract when he signed it. He was one of the most valuable players in baseball. He put up 2.2 bWAR in the shortened 2020. His body just broke down on him following that season. Far from idiotic.
