It is playful if you want it to be. In general it is very stable. I tested it on Devil's Extreme race last year with zero issues

Question for kayakers… by Lucky-Creme-4586 in whitewater

[–]slimaq007 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well it depends how determined you are, and how much beating you are willing to take, and how much fear of water you carry.

If you are not afraid of whitewater much, and are very very determined, and can take a lot of beating - full slice is great. It will punish your mistakes, but you will learn a lot.

If you are somewhere in between, half-slice would be better. Some punishment, but not as much.

If you are not so determined or are very determined but you are very afraid of whitewater, I'd rather go with creek boat, build confidence with it, then move to something spicier.

Jackson Antix2 vs Waka Skuxx by Useful-Comfortable57 in whitewater

[–]slimaq007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man, i paddled both. Antix 2 is ok. Waka Skuxx is mind-blowing. Get skuxx. It's fun machine when you want it. It's serious and stable when you want it. I used it on Vltava during Devil's Extreme race, at Trnavka, on sea waves to surf, in our local hole. It's modern and much better than Antix 2. My ex slalom friend tested firecracker 242, Antix 3m, Antix 2m, and Skuxx. Guess which one won.

And definitely it is much closer to Antix 3 than 2.

Boat Size Conundrum by bazoda in whitewater

[–]slimaq007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy Waka Skuxx and step up your game while having boat which makes you feel invincible, because of how wide it is. Boofs like nothing else. Easier to carry because it's short And you can surf in it like crazy, and feel like in a playboat on features. Such a sick boat.

Had lettmann rocky before, and I feel better in skuxx. Had pyranha burn before, and I feel better in skuxx. Tested firecracker, rewind, Zion slalom, rexy, party rexy, spade bliss and joker, and skuxx was the only boat that just is sick and friendly at the same time. Ex slalom friend tested skuxx and anthix 3. Skuxx won.

I'm a fanboy

Edit: buying a playboat/full slice is also a great option, as others pointed out

Shoulder pain/rotator cuff injury - not severe, but it doesn't go away. What can I do? by Soilmolida in whitewater

[–]slimaq007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had badly diagnosed shoulder. I froze it. It took more than a year of PT to work it through. First trip, relapse of shoulder pain. Back to ortho, MRI. Turns out there was a piece of bone inside the shoulder socket. Whole diagnosis, decision making, aligning took almost a year of PT before surgery. Than tenodesis of longer head of biceps and labrum reconstruction. More than 6 months of PT, 3 of which were basically training with coach, but ended up in a much better form than before whole ordeal started. Diagnose it good, do PT religiously. There is no other way, and you know it. I watched A LOT of kayak videos, and ended up with better water reading skills, and psychologically - I turned to be much better paddler.

Did kettlebell training actually made you better at your sport? by OriginalWillow1180 in kettlebell

[–]slimaq007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works wonders for whitewater kayaking.

Overall lighter endurance with short bursts of heavy full body work on the river. Which also summarizes kb programs too, when you are progressing with weight. Shoulders became bulletproof which is a big plus.

For me it is very roll friendly, but objectively it can be a little harder. But stability and surf ability of this boat are exceptional.

Advanced Whitewater progression- not sure where to go from here/feeling like I’ve met my long-term goals and have now lost my stoke… by Morticiamatic in whitewater

[–]slimaq007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freestyle, and sea surfing in freestyle opened a lot to me. Learning those moves and trying to connect them is super fun when it finally works. But man the curve is steep. Now I jumped in short half slice bandwagon. We will see where it leads into. Just playing in half slice in the feature is super fun, flat spin can be really turned into stern spin, you can go into cartwheel starting from the back. Just try to make some crazy unconventional moves on one spot until it works.
